As per an announcement made on WWE.com, the reality television show that last aired in 2011 will be making a comeback. Tough Enough was originally stated to be returning last year, however, due to budget cuts the plans were scrapped and the new season was to be left behind. However, this year it looks as though it is all systems go as USA Network President had this to say at a speech at the Television Critics Association winter tour:

“I am pleased to announce that USA is bringing back ‘Tough Enough,’ the action-packed competition reality show from the ratings juggernaut, WWE. The show will have a completely new format, with live elements that will truly make this event television.”

I for one will be intrigued to see how the ‘live elements’ will transpire, and how it will connect with the WWE Universe. There has been no news to wether Stone Cold will return to the show or WWE will introduce a new host.

There have been a few wrestlers, including The Miz, Ryback and John Morrison, to breakthrough from Tough Enough to the main roster of WWE, with each having varied success. However, with the success and popularity of the ‘development’ show NXT, WWE will be hoping that the new and improved Tough Enough will help them find the next megastar to join their ranks. The new batch of wannabe WWE wrestlers will all want to have a moment like previous winner Maven did in the 2002 Royal Rumble when he pulled off one of the biggest shock eliminations by dropkicking The Undertaker over the top rope, but they will be also hoping for more longevity than the former Hardcore Champion as he was last known to be a bouncer in NYC.

It should be a fun addition to the ever growing WWE Network and shows, and hopefully this years Tough Enough will be as revamped and rejuvenated show which produces some new and exciting talent. Either that, or we get to see Bob Holly kick the crap out of people again.
