This is the first time as a News Editor of Steel Chair that I’ve had to write an obituary, and arguably it couldn’t be for a more influential and important figure within not just the WWE but within the whole wrestling community. Today WWE confirmed that Virgil Runnels aka ‘The American Dream’ Dusty Rhodes has passed away at the age of 69.
Dusty was legendary both in the ring and also behind the scenes as a trainer, producer and booker, working for everyone from Jim Crockett Promotions, WWE, WCW and TNA, before returning to the WWE in 2005 helping to shape the future of the WWE. Dusty was also the father of current WWE Superstars Dustin ‘Goldust’ Runnels and Cody ‘Stardust’ Runnels.
It goes without saying there will never be another ‘America Dream’ quite like Dusty Rhodes.
