King Barrett, Damien Sandow, Santino Marella, Cameron, Hornswoggle, Alex Riley, El Torito and Zeb Colter have all been let go by WWE according to a statement on their official website. The wrestlers have all been dismissed at the same time on the 6th of May a date now being dubbed ‘Black Friday’.
King Barrett had been seeking his release for a while now, his last hurrah being his time with The League of Nations, a faction which he had just been unceremoniously dumped from a few weeks ago. Damien Sandow was part of one of the hottest gimmicks of 2014 with the endlessly entertaining Mizdow. Even with that outstanding performance, WWE creative were clearly not confident in his talents and he was lumbered with crap angles ever since. A parody of the Super Powers came to an abrupt halt after Hogan’s sex tape was released. WWE have not thought of anything to do with him since. A recent inclusion in a Battle Royal had some hoping for a return; sadly, it was not to be.
The last memorable story Morello had was as the hopeful admirer of Emma. As her push crashed and burned. He was the collateral damage. Cameron’s GirlBye thing was limited and annoying. Her contribution to WWE in recent months was restricted to fleeting appearances on Total Divas. Hornswoggle and El Torito’s time with the company was only going to last as long as they would tolerate using little people as entertainment in these increasingly PC times. Blame Peter Dinklage for legitimizing them as people in the eyes of corporations. Alex Riley’s singles career wasn’t faring well, but he had something of a resurgence as a colour commentator. When coming back to wrestle he had his last match against Shinsuke Nakamura. Zeb Colter is 66 and doesn’t need to be travelling from state to state every week anymore.
Steel Chair and VultureHound would like to wish them all the best.
