Okay guys, we’ve only got a couple days left of 2016 so let’s just get through them together. What we really right now is some good entertainment to take our minds off of all the mince pies and turkey that is still in your fridge somehow? I believe I have the perfect solution, NXT’s Taping of their house show in Japan! We luckily got to see the main event of this show on an earlier episode of NXT but now we get to see all of the other matches you didn’t know you wanted. Without further delay, here’s what happened on NXT this week.

The first match of the night was Oney Lorcan vs Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas. A technically strong match-up between these two, who share interesting chemistry in the ring. Lorcan gave many opportunities for Almas to shake his hand but was repeatedly denied, even though the match went on longer than average it did feel very entertaining to see these two try and get the upper hand on the other through brute strength and technical holds. Good opening to a show with Almas securing the victory.
Next up was another entry in the Liv Morgan and Billie Kay feud with a tag team match. Morgan had Aliyah in her corner and Kay brought her “bestie” Peyton Royce. What’s really interesting in watching these two teams fight is the amount of chemistry they both have, all the double team moves and coordinated attacks all seemed to sync up very successfully creating some fun moments in the ring. Kay & Royce showed a lot of dominance in the ring which is good to see, running their mouths and having the results to back it up definitely goes a long way. I would the ending felt a little rushed with Kay & Royce winning maybe a bit clumsy but was fun to see Morgan and Kay battle it out once again.
What may be the match of the night and what a surprise, It’s #DIY vs Akira Tozawa & Tajiri. I swear that whenever DIY get in the ring they go all out and actively try to put on a five-star match every chance they get. I’ve got to be honest, this was a damn good match to watch not only because of #DIY’s performance, but Tozawa & Tajiri don’t hold back anything in this and it’s absolutely brilliant. The back and forth of momentum was great to see, as well as how far each team was willing to go to get the win was quite impressive and #DIY succeeded in the end.

It’s Asuka time! This time she defended her title against Nia Jax of all people? Not that I’m complaining it’s just that do we really think Nia Jax is going to take the NXT Women’s title to Raw? It’s not about losing the title at a house show as we know that’s possible, it’s the idea that Nia who is currently on the main roster on Raw and could easily contend for the WWE Women’s title, would go for the NXT version? I don’t think so. Either way, this was a fun match with two dominant forces colliding as they both tried to overpower the other and secure a win. Asuka manages to get the win with both screaming like warriors in battle and finally culminating in a kid to the head.
The main event of the evening was the rematch of Shinsuke Nakamura vs Samoa Joe for the NXT title, now this has already been covered before in a previous This week on NXT (Might want to have a look, I hear the writer is very nice), which goes into more detail of the fight. To summarise the fight was quite entertaining, the fight at NXT Takeover: Toronto was better by comparison but was definitely a feel good match for Nakamura in his home country.

Overall I’d highly recommend watching this for the matches included, especially the championship matches as they brought out the best in each competitor and was a entertaining house show.
