With the imminent approach of an iconic January Wrestling PPV put on by a certain North American company, many of the Britwres shows taking place this week are guilty of taking some inspiration for the names and content, the first being BWP, with the Grand Central Rumble at the Grand Central Hall in Liverpool on 27th. Aside from the obligatory 30 man, over-the-top Rumble Match for a shot at the BWP Catchweight Championship, the card includes veteran Frankie Sloan taking on Nick “Magnus” Aldiss and “Delicious” Danny Hope in competition against “100% Welsh Beef” Dylan Roberts.
Also on 27th, Phoenix Promotions presents Rumble in Doncaster at the Parklands Sports & Social Club in (you guessed it) Doncaster. Here the 30 man Rumble Match will earn the winner the number one contendership to the Phoenix Heavyweight Championship. Highlights of the undercard include King Dangerous taking on “The Warrior” Paul Malen, “The Romanian Sniper” Radu Bulat against “Mean Machine” Mark Sanders and the titanic collision of Tyson T-Bone facing “Liverpool’s No.1” Zack Gibson.
The Portsmouth Mountbatten Centre is the venue for RPW:UK’s Revolution Rumble 2017 on 28th, with no matches having been announced at the time of writing, save of course, for the 30 man, over-the-top Rumble Match.
It comes as something as a relief to report that WCPW: Loaded – Edinburgh, at the Meadowbank Sports Centre on 29th, does not have a Rumble Match of any shape, form or description scheduled to take place. Instead the show, which is a TV taping, will feature WCPW regulars such as Joe Hendry, Johnny Moss, Joe Coffey, “The Mexican Sensation” El Ligero, BT Gunn, Jason Prime, Rampage Brown, Gabriel Kidd, Travis Banks and “The Anarchist” Doug Williams. Also in attendance will be ROH Superstar Jay Lethal and WCPW Heavyweight Champion Drew Galloway.
And finally, a mere fortnight after making their debut in Birmingham, PROGRESS return to the Electric Ballroom in Camden, for Chapter 43: Tropic Thunderbastard. No matches had been announced at that time of writing, but the main event will no doubt be the eponymous Thunderbastard Match, in which multiple challengers take on the current PROGRESS Heavyweight Champion in a one-fall-to-a-finish match for the title.
