Night two of Honor Rising took place today at Japan’s infamous Korakuen Hall, live on New Japan World. The second card of the weekend featured Adam Cole putting his ROH World Title on the line against YOSHI-HASHI, Hirooki Goto putting his NEVER Openweight strap up for grabs against Punisher Martinez and a main event between the Bullet Club and The Briscoes, Ospreay & Okada.

Dalton Castle may very well be the star of these two shows and is just so over in Japan its crazy. Taguchi came out to the ring as Dalton Castle which was a pure stroke of genius. There was a lot going on in this match, perhaps too much at some stages but it was lots of fun seeing Naito tie Delirious up to the guardrail with his own mask and dish out a decent amount of punishment. Los Ingobernables got the win when EVIL pinned Delirious.

War Machine put on another very solid performance and were certainly helped by their opponents who seem to be getting over more and more with the crowd. War Machine picked up the win and more importantly took to the mic to declare that they are coming for the IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Titles which is a great move.

Goto and Punisher Martinez put on a rather forgettable bout if truth be told and I am not really anymore sold on Martinez after watching him for the past two days. It may be that it’s a new environment and he is trying to stand out amongst a very solid crew, but I just find him rather odd. Maybe that’s the gimmick but it just doesn’t work for me. Goto was thankfully able to get the victory after hitting the GTR and its probably best that everyone forgets this one and moves on.

YOSHI-HASHI BayBay is what is scribbled down in my notes and it was definitely great to see a solid match following the rather forgetful one that preceded it. Cole definitely is better as a singles performer for me and I think it proved it during these two shows, being overshadowed by Omega in night one. After kicking out of the Loose Explosion, Cole finally hit the Last Shot to get the win and retain the ROH World Title.

The main event featured some much need Elite goodness. I was hoping for more Okada and Omega in this one but in perfect fashion they limited the twos interactions which I suppose was the smart thing to do from a NJPW perspective. The whole match was a great ending to the Honor Rising shows and saw Cody go over getting the pin on Ospreay after hitting the Cross Rhodes. Omega took to the mic post match and said there were no good guys, no bad guys, just the best which is what the Elite is and went on to say that 2017 will be their year.
