Former Smackdown General Manager Teddy Long will be inducted to the Hall of Fame by his former travelmates and Acolytes Protection Agency (APA) members, John “Bradshaw” Layfield and Ron Simmons.
By the end of 1990’s and the beginning of 2000’s, JBL, Simmons, Teddy Long and “The Godfather” Charles Wright spent many hours together on the road, riding thousands miles from arena to arena.
Teddy Long started with WWE in 1998 as a referee and soon became the manager of many Superstars such as D’Lo Brown, Jazz or Rodney Mack. From 2004 to 2012, he’d been Smackdown and ECW’s charismatic General Manager.
JBL, as told on WWE.com announcement, sees this opportunity as a privilege and an honour. He also jokes that he’s now the only one of the group not to be apart of the Hall of Fame. JBL inducted Ron Simmons into the Hall of Fame Class of 2012 and The Godfather into last year Class, alongside Simmons.
WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2017 also includes Kurt Angle,Diamond Dallas Page, The Rock’n Roll Express, Beth Phoenix, “Ravishing” Rick Rude and former football player Eric Le Grand as recipient of the Warrior Award.
WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place on Friday, March 31, at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, during Wrestlemania 33 week-end. It will be broadcasted live on WWE Network.
