Drew Galloway was sitting front row tonight at NXT Takeover: Orlando. Prior to NXT Championship match, he was given a spotlight, showed under his former WWE name of Drew McIntyre, as the crowd was cheering him loudly. Enough to let viewers think he could be back to WWE.
News the “Chosen One” confirmed to ESPN moments after the show ended, announcing he signed a full-time deal to perform under the NXT brand. His intentions are pretty clear : “I’ve won championships all across the world. I’ve helped build brands. So what’s the next logical thing for me to do? It’s to come here and win the NXT title.”
In an already crowded NXT Championship picture, led by charismatic and popular faces such as current Champion Bobby Roode or Shinsuke Nakamura, it will be interesting to see how the fans will react to his in-ring return and how quickly WWE will allow him to reach the top of the brand.
Drew McIntyre left WWE three years ago and had worked ever since all over the world for promotions such as EVOLVE, TNA Wrestling, Pro Wrestling Guerilla or Insane Championship Wrestling in his native Scotland.
