Many thought the return of Jim Ross at Wrestlemania 33 would be a one-night tribute to the Undertaker, as the Deadman was about to wrestle his Last Ride. But Jim Ross revealed to Fox Sports today that he has in fact signed a two-year deal with WWE. The deal will be for a specific number of dates and events.

He expressed his happiness to be back at the ‘Grandest Stage of Them All’ Wrestlemania. 

“To be on the card at WrestleMania is not a right. It’s really, indeed, a privilege, and I was very happy that WWE reached out and wanted to, as they say, in their own words, bring me home.”

He also revealed WWE and himself had been in talks for months and his late wife Jan, who died tragically less than two weeks ago, was supporting him in this comeback. “That was her dream, and I shared that dream, which is one of the reasons I was so willing to come here”, he noted.

His new contract will have him obligated for a specific number of dates. Something he appreciates. But he’s open to many more challenges now that he’s back in a home where he contributed in so many different ways in the past. “I’ve been an administrator and a syndicator, a marketing rep, a VP of broadcasting, a head of talent relations”.

But he’s looking forward to being back ringside as a commentator as quickly as possible. “I hope to have more ‘fun part’ assignments in the future, but I’ve got my jersey back. So if the team needs me to play, to work more than they anticipated because they need it, I’m in.”
