“Coming Off the adrenaline of Wrestlemania…they just want to keep the party rolling”
One of the main appeals of traveling to Wrestlemania is the RAW after Mania. In recent years, surprises, call ups, returns and betrayals have all played a part in making this RAW the most important and must see Raw of the year.
To celebrate this, WWE Home Video has released ‘Wrestlemania Monday’, was released on April 3rd and to be honest, this is essentially a love letter to the fans of this event Uniquely presented the way it is edited and told almost through the eyes of the fans as well as the NXT wrestlers who made their call ups directly after NXT Takeover before Wrestlemania 32.
The documentary also recently seen on the WWENetwork, looks at the trials that Enzo and Cass dealt with before being called up and the elation afterwards, also focusing on the arrival of Apollo Crews. (Personally, for anyone who witnessed him in the UK as Uhaa Nation in PBW, Dragon Gate and PCW should watch this as its great to see his excellent work rewarded as he is called up by Triple H)
Another insight, is shown in the real life relationship dynamic between The Miz and Maryse as you can see the improvement in his in ring character and the confidence he naturally exudes when he is flanked by his wife, who also made her return on Wrestlemania RAW, when helping MIz recapture the Intercontinental Championship from Zack Ryder.
“She doesn’t have to say anything, just her presence gives me a whole new motivation”- The Miz on Maryse.
Next, the documentary moves to a tone of refection for Cesaro, who had to sit from the seats alongside Seth Rollins to watch Wrestlemania due to injury and then make his return at RAW to a gigantic reception from the fans and from there, it’s the about the fans.
“To me, it’s the favourite RAW of the year, cause these guys come to have fun…they are gonna chant, they are gonna boo the good guys..” – JBL.
From highlights of the arrivals from The Club, the confrontation of Brock Lesnar & John Cena, to the random chants, the booing the intended heroes, the beach balls and fans dressing up as WWE stars, this WWE tribute to RAW after Mania as well as the fans is exactly what you’d want if you want to relive the trip to Wrestlemania or you want to see a special look behind the scenes.
There are an incredible amount of matches as well as special moments, personally, my favourite is Ric Flair’s Retirement Speech on RAW after he was defeated by Shawn Michaels at Mania. It is an excellent moment, from Triple H, the Reunion of the Four Horsemen, Batista, Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat, Harley Race, Greg “The Hammer’ Valentine, Dean Melenko, Chris Jericho, John Cena, Shawn Michaels, his family, followed by the whole WWE roster, all pay tribute to a man who was styled and profiled his way all over the world.
“Thank you for making me who I am today” – Ric Flair.
