Three WWE Superstars of Raw and NXT are injured, as confirmed by WWE or announced online. As Emma was just back on live television after a serious back injury last year, Ember Moon and Braun Strowman’s injuries will lead to big changes on cards for upcoming Raw and NXT events as they were serious contenders for the brands titles.
For Ember Moon, the injury happened at the last NXT tapings 3 weeks ago. During a Battle Royal to name a #1 contender to NXT Women’s Champion Asuka at NXT Takeover: Chicago on May 20 (match set to be broadcasted on May 17th), Ember Moon slammed the guardrail with her shoulder and was helped to the back by referees and medics.
After pictures of Moon with a sling emerged on social medias, WWE stated officially today Ember Moon suffered a grade-one shoulder sprain. She will out of action from four to five weeks. She will also not be able to compete at NXT Takeover : Chicago in the Women’s Championship Fatal 4-Way Match.
More details about Moon’s injury and the fate of the title match between Asuka, Ruby Riot and Nikki Cross are expected this Wednesday during NXT weekly episode.
For Braun Strowman, the limit between kayfabe and reality was fragile. Last week General Manager Kurt Angle announced Strowman suffered from a torn rotator cuff after his match against Roman Reigns at Payback. A supposedly kayfabe injury as the two were in European live events by the end of the last week.
But tonight on Raw, Strowman appeared with his arm in a sling for this match against Kalisto and was viciously attacked by Roman Reigns who destroyed his left arm. It was revealed later the storyline was a way to let Strowman go as he had to undergo a minor procedure to fix his elbow.
He will be out of action from 4 to 8 weeks and miss Raw next 2 PPV, Extreme Rules in June and Great Balls of Fire in July. This injury deals a massive blow to WWE creative plans as Strowman was rumored to be planned for matches with Roman Reigns and Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at those events.
For Emma, injury happened during Liverpool live event on Sunday night during her tag match with Alexa Bliss and Nia Jax against Bayley, Sasha Banks and Mickie James. While taking the double knee drop from Sasha on the turnbuckle, Emma took a bad landing on her right shoulder.
The match ended in a no-contest as Emma was unable to compete and was helped to the back by the referee. Emma confirmed her bad luck on Twitter yesterday but was not able yet to confirm the extent of the injury and how long she would be out of action.
After a serious back injury last year and a long awaiting to come back on live television, Emma made her return on Wrestlemania Monday edition of Raw. But she had already been working on US live events in the USA since the end of last year.
