Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide, Mexico’s biggest wrestling promotion, will be available for free on UK television for the first time in its history, exclusively on sports channel Front Runner. The first show will be aired this Wednesday at 9.30 PM across UK and Northern Ireland.
The Lucha Libre Federation offers wrestling fans the chance to see some of the world’s greatest luchador wrestlers such as Johnny Mundo, Angelico, La Parka, Super Fly, Aerostar, Garza Jr, Drago and luchadora Taya. Most of these wrestlers are also involved in US Lucha Libre promotion, Lucha Underground.
Ross Ravago, Head of Advertising and Sponsorship for Front Runner, said he was thrilled “to be able to broadcast one of the biggest wrestling company’s to UK wrestling fans”. He believes that ” it is a fantastic alternative to similar programmes already shown in the UK.” Launched last october, Front Runner is available across the UK and Northern Ireland on SKY ch469, Freesat ch250, Freeview ch91, Talk Talk/ BT ch91.
With this new potential market of 19 million homes, AAA is opening itself a large window for British and Irish wrestling fans, notably of lucha libre style. The Mexican federation is celebrating this year its 25th anniversary and announced last April a partnership with Impact Wrestling about talent exchanges, co-branded tours and access to a new network in USA and Canada.
