We told you a while ago that the Mae Young Classic Women’s Tournament was rumoured to be an event mostly run by women. Referees, ring announcers, backstage interviewers and a ringside announcer were all heavily expected to be women.
After WWE making official that WWE Hall of Famer Lita would be the colour commentator of the event, Jim Ross revealed today on the latest edition of his podcast that another WWE Hall of Famer, Alundra Blayze, will be joining him and Lita as the broadcast team of The Mae Young Classic. Blayze will work as a backstage interviewer and handle pre and post match interviews while he and Lita will be commenting live.
Blayze was a guest trainer in the Performance by the end of May and noted on Instagram this week that she was involved in The Mae Young Classic in some way. She told WWE how important this tournament was for Women’s wrestling, a historic moment and a long over-due.
