GFW Impact Wrestling announced today that investigations on Alberto El Patron were now complete El Patron is still indefinitely suspended but also has been stripped of the GFW World Heavyweight Championship. El Patron was supposed to defend the title this Thursday at Destination X against Low-Ki.

Here is the full statement from GFW:

“GFW has concluded its internal consideration of the events surrounding the suspension of Alberto El Patron. While it is apparent that initial reports unfairly characterized El Patron’s involvement in the incident in the Orlando airport, we are nonetheless disappointed with the manor in which he dealt with this situation; we expect more decorum from all on the GFW roster, especially the World Champion. We have communicated with El Patron our decision to strip him of his championship title. No decision has been taken as to the date on which he will be reinstated to the roster, the conditions of which are a private matter between the company and El Patron.”

Even though Alberto is not considered a suspect anymore in the Orlando Airport affair (read our reports here and there), it’s the bad publicity El Patron has made of GFW the company retained in its choice. On July 9, El Patron was detained following a domestic battery incident at the Orlando International Airport. He was not arrested and no charges were filed at the time.

The following day, his girlfriend, WWE Superstar Paige, posted a statement on Twitter claiming a woman was involved in the feud, not her. But this woman shared an audio that was posted on TMZ, we could hear El Patron yelling on Paige and asking to “call the cops” while Paige was asking him “to stay out his life”.

The witness told later Heavy.com El Patron and Paige were not only arguing and screaming, but Piage claimed Alberto had been doing cocaine and was abusive. El Patron was also said by the witness smelling alcohol.

GFW quickly reacted and suspended El Patron indefinitely. The company decided to investigate from its side, out of every police investigation. But earlier this month, Alberto El Patron and Paige appeared on Busted Open radio podcast to address the incident. Both claimed they planned to come back to the ring very soon. El Patron said he knew when he was set to be back (Destination X) but was still suspended for the moment.

Because Impact Wrestling is taping weeks of episodes on a short period a time, last time was after Slammiversary in the beginning of July, El Patron has been seen on TV over the last few weeks. But he didn’t take part of the recent live events GFW organised in New York. By the end of July, El Patron was also asked to quit his position as President of Mexican MMA organization, Combates America.

As far as Destination X is concerned, Impact Wrestling has not told any words on who Low-Ki would eventually compete against. And most importantly, how and when a new GFW Unified World Heavyweight Champion would be crowned.
