GFW Impact Wrestling was recording its future weekly shows from Thursday to Sunday in Orlando. And it seems like Impact’s partnership with Lucha Libre AAA is bringing the company an interesting new lot of talents, in addition to the other talents that came back at Destination X.
The first name is not a real surprise. As a member of The Worldwide Underground in Lucha Underground and real-life partner of Johnny Mundo, who’s making his debut on Impact Wrestling this Thursday as Johnny Impact, the arrival of Taya Valkyrie was quite expected. A recent stir led her to leave AAA, as Director of Talent Vampiro stripped her of the Reina de Reinas title for complex reasons. The Canadian, trained by Lance Storm, has worked mostly in Mexico since her debut and started with Lucha Underground last year.
Another member of Lucha Underground and AAA is making his way to the Impact Zone. Texano is a 17-year ring veteran who also has worked most of his career in Mexico, with CMLL then with AAA. A former 2-time AAA Mega Champion, the luchador started with Lucha Underground in the middle of the first season of the show. He recently lost a spot in the Final Four of The Dario Cueto Cup against Pentagon Dark due to an interference by Famous B who has tried to recruit him for quite a while now.
On the flip side, Tyrus, formerly known as Brodus Clay in WWE, announced he requested his release from Impact Wrestling. On Wednesday, he posted a video on Twitter announcing he would not be a part of the Impact tapings. He claimed he and his fans have been “handcuffed and treated like a second-class citizen creatively” and won’t return until he got treated right. On Saturday, he posted another tweet announcing the company granted him his release and “wishing the roster and crew all success.”
