Since the end of 2016, WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels has become an important addition to the crew of trainers at WWE Performance Center, working alongisde his best friend and Talents Executive Vice-President Triple H to help the next generation of wrestlers achieve their dreams in the NXT rings and also to offer advices to the talents about to go to the main roster.
But in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas, on November 17, Michaels will have a very different role as he will be the special guest referee of the main event of the NXT Championship match, with Champion Drew McIntyre facing Adam Cole for the title. Michaels could witness or change the fate of the Championship as NXT TakeOver: WarGames PPV is taking place the day after, during Survivor Series weekend in Houston.
Like explained in WWE announcement, Adam Cole and The Undisputed ERA have vowed to shock the system of NXT. Cole made his shocking NXT debut in August by ambushing McIntyre moments after he won the NXT Title at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III and told the WWE Universe he would be the man who would take the belt away for him. “And there’s not a damn thing he can do about it,” he quoted.
Is Michaels going to be a fair-trade referee or is he going to make one wrestler prevail? Twenty years exactly after the infamous Montreal Screwjob that took place at Survivor Series in 1997, a bad move from Michaels would be heavily criticized and remind the fans of one of the worst chapters of wrestling history. We’ll find out about that when NXT TakeOver: WarGames is going to start.
