The age-old question of brand supremacy was due to be answered as team Raw collided with team SmackDown at Survivor Series. What WWE fails to realise is that SmackDown doesn’t have to be the “B Show” if they simply stop calling it that. Making this whole angle entirely pointless in the process. Yet, this is wrestling and logic is for smrt ppl. Welcome to the most must-see Vulture Hound weekly review in history; welcome to… The SmackDown Review Survivor Series Review.
Pre Show:
– An ever-improving Elias defeated an ever slowing Matt Hardy with the Drift Away.
– Enzo Amore retained his Cruiserweight Championship against Kalisto because Enzo is money and Kalisto is, well, Kalisto.
– Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn came to the ring and aired their grievances towards Shane McMahon. They defeated a solid looking Breezango with a pop-up powerbomb to Fandango.
The Other Matches:
– The Shield unsurprisingly defeated The New Day because Vince is gonna milk that cow dry until one of them inevitably turns heel again. Dean Ambrose looked a bit shaky but still got the pin on Kofi after the triple powerbomb.
– United States Champion, Baron Corbin, defeated Intercontinental Champion, The Miz. The best part of this was Miz once again cutting a scathing promo. Corbin countered a running dropkick into the End of Days to win.
– SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Usos, defeated the Raw Tag Team Champions, The Bar aka Sheamus and Cesaro. The Usos won the match with a splash on Sheamus who was sporting a weird frosted tipped Mohawk.
– SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair defeated Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss. Flair countered Twisted Bliss and locked on the Figure-Eight to win the match by submission.
– WWE Universal Champion, Brock Lesnar defeated WWE Champion, AJ Styles in a match that almost seemed as though Styles could win until Lesnar kicked out of a Phenomenal Forearm, then countered a second attempt into an F-5 to win.
The 5v5 Matches:
Women’s Team Raw defeated Women’s Team SmackDown. Shockingly, Becky Lynch was the first to be eliminated early on with a roll-up by Bayley. Tamina then eliminated Bayley with an awkward splash to make it 4-on-4. Nia Jax was eliminated via count-out after taking a cross-body from Tamina on the outside. Naomi eliminated Alicia Fox by countering a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker into a roll-up, then immediately tapped out to a Banks Statement from Sasha Banks. Asuka then eliminated Carmella with a huge kick to the face, making things 2-on-2. Natalya submitted Banks with a Sharpshooter. Which left Asuka to take out Tamina with a cross-armbreaker and tapped out Natalya to the Asuka Lock to win the match for Team Raw.
Predictably it was 3-3 for the night heading into this main event match. Team Raw made a dominant showing against Team SmackDown. There was a huge f**k you to NXT when Strowman eliminated both Nakamura and Roode with running powerslams. Samoa Joe repeatedly refused to cooperate with his teammates, which Cena took advantage of, eliminating him with an Attitude Adjustment. Angle was able to eliminate Cena after two Angle Slams and a Coup de Grace from Bálor. Orton eliminated Bálor with an RKO. Outta nowhere obviously.
Then the controversy started as Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens attacked Shane McMahon. Shane fought them off with a steel chair but left Orton all alone who was eliminated by a Braun Strowman powerslam. Angle was about to eliminate Shane McMahon with an ankle lock but then further controversy struck as Triple H attacked and Pedigreed him. HHH helped Shane up and it looked like the brothers in law had taken enough. Then Hunter Pedigreed McMahon to win the match himself because this is his company and Vince likes him more.
Following the match, Triple H tried to crack wise to Braun Strowman about taking away his victory. Big Braun wasn’t having any of this and choked out HHH in the corner. As Strowman went to walk away Triple H tried to Pedigree him, which we all know is a bad idea, as the NXT boss got powerslammed twice.
