RAW General Manager Kurt Angle was the first to break the news this afternoon on TWitter when he announced Samoa Joe would not be able to be a a part of WWE Mixed Match Challenge. WWE confirmed a few minutes ago that yesterday night on RAW, during his match against Rhyno, Samoa Joe was injured on his right foot.
WWE Senior Ringside Physician Dr. Chris Amann said, during the match, Joe felt “a pop at the bottom of his right foot. We took a look and believe he has a plantar fascia rupture, which is a thick tissue rupture under the foot.” Samoa Joe will undergo an MRI to determine the extent of his injury.
“Treatment includes a period of immobilization in a boot with crutches and platelet rich plasma injections”, like added Dr. Amman. Joe could be back in a few weeks and so be apart of the 30-man Royal Rumble, like he announced yesterday night. If MRI was showing a more complex injury, surgery would be required and Samoa Joe could be out up to 2 months, maybe more.
