Hooked On Events, a company specialised in running and promoting viewing parties for WWE PPV events across the UK and allow people to make friends while enjoying their enjoy their favourite form of entertainment, will be hosting WrestleMania viewing parties across the UK and Canada to bring WWE fans together for the biggest WWE PPV viewing party in history. As part of these celebrations, Hooked On is keen to raise some funds for a great cause. A campaign to get the 1995 track With My Baby Tonight, credited to Jeff Jarrett and sung by ‘Road Dogg’ Brian James, into the UK Top 40 Singles Charts.
Hooked On have pledged to donate £1000 to WWE’s Connors Cure charity if the song charts on Friday. Connor’s Cure is a charity founded in 2014 to help families affected by pediatric cancer and fund research into future cures. This campaign has been backed by wrestling personalities like Jarrett and James, as well as WWE’s Drake Maverick (AKA Rockstar Spud) and Zack Ryder as well as the biggest start in British wrestling, Grado.
Paul Benson, Managing Director of Hooked On Events explained, “We have always been great supporters of Connor’s Cure and have conducted a number of fund-raising raffles at our WWE viewing parties over the years. The song was sung constantly when Bruce Prichard toured the UK with us last summer. We really hope we reach our goal and who knows, maybe some of the stars of the wrestling world will match our pledge?”
“With My Baby Tonight” is the country music track released by WWE in 1995. In storylines, the track was credited to “Double J” Jeff Jarrett, but It was eventually revealed on-screen that the song was actually recorded by Jarrett’s on-screen associate, The Roadie. The song has experienced an ironic surge in popularity over the last 18 months after regularly being featured on “Something To Wrestle….With Bruce Prichard” podcast.
Jeff Jarrett said: “The popularity of this song has never really gone away. I have always been asked about it on a regular basis over the last 23 years. It’s so much fun to see how it has come back to prominence amongst wrestling fans over the last couple of years through Bruce Prichard and Conrad Thompson. If the great wrestling fans in the UK want to make this song their own to raise money for a wonderful charity in Connor’s Cure and celebrate WrestleMania then I am right behind that.
