It was not a secret Brock Lesnar’s contract was expiring at WrestleMania 34. Lesnar was announced to come back to UFC but, against all odds, Lesnar remained Universal Champion after winning his match yesterday night against Roman Reigns.

WWE just announced Lesnar in fact signed a new deal with the company. His next appearance is scheduled for the Greatest Royal Rumble event, where he will compete against Roman Reigns in a Steel Cage Match for the Universal Title in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on Friday, April 27.

As Lesnar is not set to appear until Greatest Royal Rumble, Lesnar should again work on a limited schedule. In fact the length and specifics of Lesnar’s new deal were not released by WWE in its announcement. 

Last week, UFC president Dana White claimed Lesnar was “definitely” returning to the Octagon. Meanwhile, for the better part of last month, WWE has built up a storyline around Lesnar leaving the company for UFC. Which makes think both companies have worked together to swerve the fans.   

Of course Lesnar could still have clauses that allow him to fight in UFC either as part of his WWE contract or via special allowance by chairman Vince McMahon. Something that seems absolutely possible as far as both companies already agreed to let the fans think for weeks Lesnar would step away from the squared circle to come back to the Octagon.
