During today scheduled pre NXT event call, Paul “Triple H” Levesque confirmed the rumour that came out last night that the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament will return.
Last year the 2-day tournament to crown the first WWE UK Title holder was a real showcase of some of the best unsigned UK talent and was won by Tyler Bate in a blistering final against Pete Dunne. Both men went on to have a Match of the Year candidate at NXT Takeover: Chicago which saw the UK title go to Dunne. The match has since been regularly featured on NXT and also regular WWE TV.
Triple H also confirmed that the tournament would take place on Monday, June 18, and Tuesday, June 19, at London Royal Albert Hall, where WWE have previously produced a PPV in 1991. Tickets for both nights will be available starting this Friday, 13 April, at 9AM BST at www.bookingsdirect.com and www.livenation.co.uk.
With this announcement the UK scene will again be under the microscope as one of the best scenes in the world, and it will be interesting to see which talent is featured. Especially as even in the nearly 14 months since the last tournament, the landscape has changed considerably.
