The MMA’s Four Horsewomen are now meant to become the WWE’s Four Horsewomen. After Ronda Rousey and NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler, Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir reported for training in WWE Performance Center today. Like WWE is quoting, they’re both making the move from Mixed Martial Arts to Sports-Entertainment.
Reuniting the MMA Horsewomen in WWE is not a surprise as the rumours have been running rampant for years now. If Shayna Baszler signed with WWE after her participation in the Mae Young Classic Tournament, to which she reached the final, Ronda Rousey made her first steps in a WWe ring at WrestleMania 34 where she teamed up with another Olympic medalist, Kurt Angle, against Triple H and Stephanie McMahon.
The MMA and Muay Thai specialist Jessamyn Duke started her amateur career in 2010. She quickly obtained the amateur featherweight title in a few organizations before signing with INVICTA FC. After participating in UFC’s “Ultimate Fighter” reality competition series in 2013, as part of “Team Rousey”, she signed with UFC. She would later be released in 2015 and start her transition into wrestling.
Marina Shafir is known as “The Supernova from Moldova”. She worked a few matches for INVICTA FC and LIght Out Promotions. Like Duke, she was involved UFC’s “Ultimate Fighter” reality competition series in 2013, as part of “Team Rousey”. She is mostly known as Roderick Strong’s fiancée and has been seen at ringside for many of Strong’s matches.
Duke and Shafir appeared alongside Ronda Rousey to support Baszler during the Mae Young Classic Tournament. But they had to stand in front of Bayley, Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch, three-quarters of WWE’s Four Horsewomen, alongside Sasha Banks. The exchange of words between the 6 women was a moment many saw as the beginnings of a battle of the Horsewomen. Something we’ve never been closer to.
