WWE Hall of Famer Shawn Michaels and WWE Executive Vice-President in charge of Talents and Live Events Triple H have been announced to appear at the WWE UK Title Tournament event on June 18th in London at Royal Albert Hall, WWE announced today.

Both men competed in the iconic arena during their career. Michaels fought in the first-ever WWE match to take place at the Royal Albert Hall in 1991 with his Rockers tag team partner Mary Jannetty. Since this event, WWE has come to the UK every year. Triple H also appeared there in October 1995 on the Full Metal Tour, the most recent WWE event to be held in the building.

Michaels and Triple H are both extremely involved in these UK shows. Shawn Michaels is currently the coach of NXT top Stars at the WWE Performance Center, Triple H has been “the driving force” behind the WWE United Kingdom Tournament and Championship.

The matches

On June 18, the WWE UK tournament will feature the 8 competitors who qualified during first-round matches at Download Festival from June 8 to 10 in the quarterfinal, semifinal and final matches of the event. Current WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne will team up with Trent Seven and Tyler Bate, aka The Moustache Mountain, against Roderick Strong, Adam Cole and Kyle O’Reilly, NXT’s own Undisputed ERA.

On June 19, the winner of the tournament will face Pete Dunne for the WWE United Kingdom Championship. The NXT North American, Women’s and Tag Team Championships will be defended on the UK soil. Current NXT Champion Aleister Black and Ricochet will also team up against Velveteen Dream and EC3. As NXT TakeOver: Chicago II will take place a few days before the UK shows, current titleholders could have changed in between.
