Some of you who were in Bournemouth on May 9 for WWE Live event may have been pretty surprised to see the face of Toni Storm appearing in an advertisement for WWE UK tournaments shows on June 18 and 19. During the video, several names such as Wolfgang, Mark Andrews, and Tucker were announced alongside Mae Young Classic tournament competitor.
Storm, 22, represented Australia in WWE’s Inaugural Mae Young Classic and was eliminated from the tournament in the semifinals by Kairi Sane. At WrestleMania Axxess, she defended her PROGRESS Women’s Championship against Lacey Evans. But ever since, Storm has lost the title to Jinny. And the reason could be Toni Storm signed a deal with WWE for a UK contract.
A UK contract means Toni Storm is not committed to work with NXT and is allowed to keep working on the UK wrestling scene. So she will still be able to appear at PROGRESS and other promotions as it’s not a developmental contract. Toni Storm is the first women to have been advertised for any of the WWE UK shows. We may expect others to follow the same road very soon.
