This afternoon, Impact Wrestling management team held Slammiversary XVI press conference in Toronto and announced the drop of a title, the Impact World Championship and Knockouts Championship matches and two comebacks for the July 22 PPV in Toronto.

Impact Grand Championship is officially no more. Austin Aries decided to unify the World and Grand Championships into one unique title, the Impact Undisputed World Championship. The Impact Grand Championship was created in 2016 and was initially part of a 3-round, judging system for all title matches under the Billy Corgan regime.

Josh Mathews announced two title matches for Slammiversary XVI. Austin Aries will defend the Impact World Championship against Moose while Madison Rayne confirmed she would try to become a 6-time Knockouts Champion by defeating current Champion Su Yung.

The Mayor of Slam Town, Johnny Impact, and former X-Division Champion Taiji Ishimori will return at Slammiversary XVI. Ishimori recently took part of the Best of the Super Juniors tournament, under the “Bone Soldier” moniker. Johnny Impact will also be back, he was supposedly out of action due to an injury he sustained from Kongo Kong. But Impact was, in fact, shooting the upcoming season of reality competition television show Survivor.
