Hikura Shida has signed with AEW today as the company looks to expand its women’s roster. It’s a creative choice in talent relations as a lot of the talent known to Western fans are tied up with World Wonder Ring Stardom and therefore ROH.

Shida had beaten her own path in Joshi over the last five years, she became Oz Academy Openweight Champion last year and her title match with fellow AEW signee Aja Kong was voted match of the year by Oz Academy fans.

Shida has a healthy acting portfolio and had a straight-ahead technical brawling style that relies on high impact strikes. She is a high-quality signing at the upper echelon of women’s wrestling and adds incredible depth to their roster already brimming with talent.
