It was the first SmackDown Live post-shake-up and things were still quaking as some new faces made some shock appearances on the Blue brand. Andrade was back after a one week vacation on RAW, Aleister Black is now on SmackDown Live as where he dropped a sinister video promo and we got a big bad heel turn to end the show.
*Writer’s note: Thanks to Steph Franchomme and John Dinsdale on this one…
Opening
SmackDown Live started this week with an in-ring promo from the best in the world, Shane McMahon in the ring talking about Roman Reigns laying out his dad last week. He recapped the attack and threatened Roman Reigns with consequences. Reigns came to the ring and got in the face of Shane McMahon. However, it was revealed to be a trap and Elias attacked from behind. They all brawled and Roman looked to be winning until the heels double teamed him. Elias ended the segment by hitting Reigns with the Drift Away. He then left the ring with Shane and the segment ends.
Later in the show, Elias sang a song to the camera where he challenged Reigns to a match at Money in the Bank if he was man enough to accept. After the song, Shane jumped into the frame, fanboying over the performance. The pair then left for a night on the town in a limo. It was quickly shown that Reigns had accepted the challenge and the match was set.
Main Results
Finn Balor defeated Andrade via Coup de Grace

(Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville walked out to sarcastically applaud)

Big Moments
Becky Lynch now has two opponents for Money in the Bank. Charlotte had a cut a promo complaining about how she had lost her title without being pinned. She questions Becky’s legitimacy to her title when she only pinned Rousey. She demands another title shot once Becky has fought Lacey Evans at Money in the Bank. Becky the complained about always having to fight Charlotte and dropped some names she’d rather fight than Flair. One of those names, Bayley made her way to the ring and basically made a number one contender’s match. She may have lost to Flair but she gave a strong promo and stronger performance that will have made people pay attention. That means Becky Lynch will now be pulling double duty at Money in the Bank.
Kevin Owens just broke the WWE Universe’s hearts. He turned heel just one week after becoming Big O. He attacked after Kofi’s match was done. Originally it had appeared he had come to save Kingston when Rusev attacked during the match but instead superkicked Kingston in the face and beat down Xavier when he tried to make the save. Owens looked set to hit Kingston with an Apron Powerbomb but instead hit Xavier with one when he tried to save Kingston again. Owens ended the show staring down the carnage he’s caused whilst walking up the ramp.
So that’s SmackDown Live summed up. There are two new matches set for Money in the Bank and the excitement has begun to mount as there are new heels, new faces and a feud between the Big Dog and Elias. Not to mention that WWE hasn’t even started building towards the actual ladder matches of the upcoming PPV yet. Here’s to hoping the momentum continues and the show remains fun.
