With a huge tag team match and a big main event, we are back at Full Sail and ready to go for another week of NXT TV, I’m Scott Hammond!

Jaxson Ryker (with Cutler & Blake) vs Humberto Carrillo

Carrillo is back after a little while. Ryker looked jacked and scary as always. He started the match by asserting his power advantage over Carrillo, but Carrillo quickly caught him with a springboard roundhouse kick, followed by a head scissors takedown. Carrillo then hit a speedy handspring elbow into a standing moonsault for a one-count.

This quite clearly aggravated Ryker, who then hip tossed Carrillo into the corner turnbuckle, and followed up with a big scoop slam. He picked Carrillo up and hit the Widow Maker, only for Carrillo to no sell the finisher and roll to the outside. Ryker followed quickly and beat Carrillo into the barricade. He then threw Carrillo over the barricade and beat on him in the crowd. Ryker then hit knees to Carrillo’s head whilst he sat against one of the barricades and at that point, the referee threw the match out.

Winner: No Contest

After the match, Danny Birch and Oney Lorcan made the save for Carrillo and held the Forgotten Sons off with steel chairs to end the segment.

This was a bad ending to the opener. From Carrillo no selling the finish to Ryker not keeping him down and getting the pinfall victory only to accept what appeared to be a double count-out was just stupid. I get that they are trying to get the Forgotten Sons over as an unpredictable and dangerous group but this felt very out of sorts for the writing of the show.

Adam Cole was backstage, and he insinuated that he wasn’t happy that Gargano chose Roderick Strong over him, but that Strong would do the same thing that he would have. Matt Riddle interrupted and said he’d never seen anyone as jealous as Cole was. Cole said he had bigger things to worry about and walked off, as Riddle got back to his photo shoot that was apparently happening in the same area as Cole’s interview. Weird.

Aliyah & Vanessa Bourne vs Candice LeRae & Kacy Catanzaro

Catanzaro and Aliyah started the match, with Catanzaro working quickly into a drive-by clothesline in the corner and following with a delayed head scissors takedown. Catanzaro then performed a somersault axe kick that got a quick two count. Aliyah recovered and made the tag to Bourne, and they both performed a double suplex on Catanzaro, with Bourne then taking control of the match. Bourne pushed Catanzaro into the corner and mud hole stomped her, showing a bit of aggression which I liked.

Bourne then tagged in Aliyah, who guillotined Catanzaro on the middle rope as Bourne hit a running seat drop onto her neck. Aliyah then put her in a backstretch hold and tagged Bourne back in. They attempted the double suplex again but Catanzaro reversed it into a double neck breaker. She then made the hot tag to LeRae, who hit a missile dropkick on Bourne, followed by a jawbreaker. LeRae then took out Aliyah before hitting a step up senton on Bourne and finished with a springboard moonsault for the pinfall victory.

Winners: Candice LeRae & Kacy Catanzaro

Backstage, Io Shirai was being interviewed about what happened to Kairi Sane last week, but she was immediately attached by Shafir and Duke. They helped her as Shayna Baszler ran in and hit a knee strike, leaving her laying.

Another video package aired for KUSHIDA, and this led into a backstage segment with William Regal and Kassius Ohno. They inferred that Ohno would take on KUSHIDA in his first appearance next week.

Street Profits vs War Raiders

During the War Raiders entrance, out of nowhere, Montez Ford performed a somersault plancha over the top rope onto both men. Ford then threw Rowan into the ring and hit a quick spear for a two count. Great start from the Profits here. Angelo Dawkins then tagged in but he was met by Hanson who performed a quick side slam, and then followed up with a cartwheel clothesline on Ford. Hanson then slowed the pace and put Dawkins in a shoulder bar. Rowe tagged in and scoop slammed Hanson onto Dawkins before both men exchanged right hands.

Hanson and Ford then tagged in simultaneously, and Ford hit a very nice dropkick, and then performed a great feat of strength, holding Hanson up for a delayed belly to back suplex. Both members of the Street Profits then hit 360 splashes in the corner on Hanson, and Ford performed a Sliced Bread off the chest of Dawkins into Hanson for a two count. Great innovation there. Hanson recovered and hit his patented handspring double elbow on Dawkins and Ford, and Rowe followed up with a knee strike on Dawkins. Rowe hit a shotgun dropkick on Ford, and the War Raiders then performed a German suplex into a clothesline, followed by Thor’s Hammer for the pinfall victory.

Winners: The War Raiders

Side note: This was the first week I have been truly impressed with the Street Profits. If they continue that kind of intensity, I think that they could be real challengers for the titles.

Mia Yim was backstage talking about the recent situation regarding the Horsewomen attacking. She said she learnt a lot about herself when she fought Baszler, and now wants another opportunity.

Johnny Gargano vs Roderick Strong

Both men started with mat and chain wrestling as was expected. Some great transitions here. Strong retreated to the outside early on but was met with a superkick from the apron by Gargano.

Strong caught Gargano coming around the apron, pulled him to the floor and hit a really good half nelson back suplex onto the edge of the ring apron. Strong popped Gargano back into the ring and hit him with a gut buster. Strong followed up by putting Gargano into a modified surfboard, and as Gargano tried to fight out, Strong picked him up and hit a shoulder backbreaker on him. After an exchange of chops, Strong stayed on top and put Gargano into the Gory (Guerrero) Stretch. The fight spilt to the outside again, but this time Gargano pushed Strong shoulder first into the ring steps. Strong rolled back in but was met with a slingshot spear for a two count. Gargano then performed a roll-through kick to the head, and again Strong retreated to the outside but was this time met with a cannonball off the ring apron. Back in the ring, Strong caught Gargano on his shoulders, but Gargano reversed around and hit a hurricanrana, followed by a quick superkick.

Gargano hit some chops in the corner, but Strong fought back and hit a butterfly suplex into a backbreaker for a two count. Both men began a striking exchange, that Gargano ended with a step-up enzuigiri and followed through with a discus clothesline. Both men fought into the corner, and Strong hit a running knee strike, followed by a backbreaker flapjack combination. Gargano moved Strong to the floor and locked in the Gargano Escape, but Adam Cole ran down the ramp and onto the apron to distract Gargano and release the hold. Gargano and Cole had an exchange and the Undisputed Era then arrived on the ramp to assist. Before they could get to ringside, Matt Riddle laid out both O’Reilly and Fish, but Adam Cole hit him with a stiff punch. In the melee, Strong reached out through the middle rope to Cole, who thought it was Gargano and hit Strong with an enzuigiri. Gargano hit a tope on Cole and followed up with the slingshot DDT on Strong for the pinfall victory.

Winner: Johnny Gargano

Johnny Gargano and Matt Riddle celebrated up the ramp, as in the ring Strong and Cole had an exchange of words before Strong left the ring. Strong looked very frustrated as NXT went off the air.

Weird booking in the first match, and Aliyah and Vanessa Bourne losing again didn’t set the show up particularly well, but I was really happy with the tag match and main event. The show ended strongly (pardon the pun), and teased the Undisputed Era split, but I’m intrigued to see where we go next.
