Originally set to take place on Saturday, May 18th, the day before Money in the Bank in San José, CA, the next NXT TakeOver PPV will, in fact, celebrate its 25th edition for the first time ever in WWE’s home state of Connecticut. As revealed by WWE COO Triple H on Twitter, NXT TakeOver: XXV will be held at the Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Conn., on Saturday, June 1. Tickets for the event, which will stream live on WWE Network, will be available starting this Friday, May 10, at 10 a.m. ET (3 PM BST) at www.ticketmaster.com.

To quote WWE, “Since its inception in 2014, NXT TakeOver has etched an unbelievable legacy of incredible action, career-making performances and unforgettable moments, with each TakeOver instalment seemingly topping the one before it. Although TakeOver: XXV will mark NXT’s debut in the Nutmeg State – where WWE headquarters is located – the host city of Bridgeport has played a major part in sports-entertainment history, having been the site of WWE’s TV tapings in the 1960s. NXT TakeOver will be the first WWE event broadcast from Bridgeport since 2012.”

Since its very first edition on May 29, 2014, NXT TakeOver has been nights to remember with incredible talents and matches. Since 2016, the majority of NXT TakeOver events air a day prior to the “big five” WWE pay-per-view events (WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series and Money in the Bank) to the point of overshadowing the WWE PPVs most of the time. NXT TakeOver events have become central for WWE and their mainstay pay-per-view weekends.

It’s without question how the name TakeOver perfectly describes NXT’s emphatic presence each event, entertaining fans beyond their expectation. The fact is NXT PPVs have always had some more developed “freedom”, in style or matches, than the WWE PPVs themselves and have never stopped nurturing the “indie” atmosphere of NXT. In fact, NXT is the brand that has never disappointed the audience, regardless of match results, because of a great roster, key storylines and a delightful taste of surprise.
