ROH “Best in the World” PPV will take place tomorrow from the UMBC Event Center in Baltimore, Maryland. Baltimore is a city steeped in pro wrestling history, and Ring of Honor has been a part of that history for years. The tradition continues this summer with ROH bringing the Best in the World PPV to Charm City.
After Jeff Cobb lost the ROH World Television Title to Shane Taylor in a Four Corner Survival Match a few weeks ago, despite not factoring into the decision, Cobb shocked fans by not asking for a rematch. Instead, Cobb said he wants ROH World Champion Matt Taven in a title match. Taven accepted the challenge but his fellow Kingdom members TK O’Ryan and Vinny Marseglia are banned from ringside.
Bandido had future champion written all over him from the second he stepped foot in an ROH ring in January, and he will get his first opportunity to win gold in ROH when he challenges for the World Television Title at the Best in the World pay-per-view. Taylor’s rise has been more gradual, but no one ever doubted how dangerous of a competitor the big man from the mean streets of East Cleveland is.
Silas Young, who has been referring to himself as “The Technician of Honor” and claiming to be the purveyor of scientific wrestling, will have an opportunity to display his grappling skills against “The Octopus” Jonathan Gresham in a Pure Rules Match. The emphasis of it is on technical wrestling and any bending of the rules will not be tolerated by the referee.
Here’s the complete card of the event:
- ROH World Championship Match: Matt Taven (c) vs. Jeff Cobb
- ROH World TV Championship Match: Shane Taylor (c) vs. Bandido
