Welcome to 31 Days of Deathmatches. This is an advent calendar-style countdown to Halloween offering you a door of deliciously gory wrestling per day. Our trip to the spookiest day of the year will take us around the world and through time. This will chronicle some of the most significant deathmatches throughout the years but will mostly consist of my absolute favourite barbed wire bouts and glass shattering matches. Without further ado, let’s open the first door.
At the start of the year, Fight Club Pro worked with BJW in Japan to put on a show called Project Tokyo. This crossover saw Fight Club Pro stars battle the best from BJW, DDT, Sendai Girls and further all main evented by a cross country Death House match. It was Masashi Takeda, one of Japan’s best, vs Jimmy Havoc, arguably Britain’s best, vs Drew Parker, another British standout and Rickey Shane Page, one of America’s number ones. It was just as chaotic as you’d expect with light tubes, barbed wire, knives, staple guns, tacks and other contraptions of pain used to bludgeon and bloody each competitor.

12 minutes later or so later and Rickey Shane Page was going headfirst through a taped together grate of light tubes. Drew Parker was lying in barbed wire and Takeda angrily looked on as Havoc had his hand raised in victory. It was a mass of brutality and brawling mixed with some awesome grappling and Rickey Shane Page looking like a kaiju throwing people around like no one’s business. This is the perfect day one as it illustrates how cross-promotion makes some absolutely amazing deathmatches. We had three country’s stars fighting in Japan on a British produced show in front of a hyped crowd at Korakuen Hall from around the world. What better way to start off a collection of deathmatches?
