If you read my review of Bound For Glory, you know we finished this year of PPVs not exactly the way we wanted it. It was not perfect, not of the calibre of Slammiversary XVII. But it was good to watch and let us think the future of the company is bright, thanks to the 4 Aces in their game. But let’s move forward, which is our 2019 motto. Impact is now officially on AXS TV, this week with a special show called This Is Impact. A way to look at the past and the present, in order to build the future. Action will be back next week as some new episodes are taped this Friday and Saturday from Windsor, Ontario, Canada.
On the menu this week, This Is Impact will look at the roster, what happened at Bound For Glory and the aftermaths of the PPV. Two matches were announced, Team Impact vs Team AAA that should have aired on PPV, and Madison Rayne vs Shotzi Blackheart. So, no more words, let’s get ready for some action, but your French Enygma Steph way, of course…

The Nygma’s Chart of the Week

Allow me not to over-review what I already reviewed… I’ll let the wrestlers, Executives and Creatives talk this week…

  • TNA/Impact history video package before Josh Mathews and Executive Vice-President Scott D’Amore hosted the show from the AXS Studio. Melissa Santos joined the show, she will interview Taya later tonight.
  • They noted that Ace Austin won the X-Division title at BFG. Don Callis was on set for Ace Austin’s movie debut.
  • Mathews and D’Amore talked about the roster, including RVD, Rhino, Mad Man Fulton, Jordynne Grace, TJP, Willie Mack, Tenille Dashwood and Ken Shamrock. They then focused on Michael Elgin’s Impact arrival, an extended video package followed.
  • Madison Rayne defeated Shotzi Blackheart.

  • Mathews and D’Amore hyped the Knockouts division, a video feature on Taya’s title run followed.

  • Sami vs. Cage video package, with Cage commenting on his victory at BFG as Scott outed him over. Cage said that was the feel-good moment he needed. Scott asked him what’s next but Sami arrived. Sami wanted a rematch next week. Cage refused since he already beat him. Sami threatened his family and showed footage of oVe at Cage’s house. They were waiting on Sami’s word. Sami dared Cage to break his neck, but if he does, no one could call off oVe. Cage gave him his rematch and promised to kill him.

  • D’Lo Brown joined the show and said Sami will win next week. Scott said that Cage needs to be focused next week. D’Lo added that Cage has to put it all aside and be composed in order to retain the championship.
  • Tessa Blanchard video package and highlights of the X-Division ladder match at BFG. We headed back to Slammiversary for Tessa vs. Sami.
  • Eddie Edwards video package. Mathews and D’Amore put over Eddie and discussed his craziness. We got footage of Eddie winning the Call Your Shot gauntlet match. Mathews and D’Amore thought he will go after the World Championship.
  • Highlights of Ultimate X match from January’s Homecoming PPV. Mathews and D’Amore praised the history of the X-Division, running down some of the greats that held the championship. They talked about new champion Ace Austin. He was still on a porn set and wanted to mow the wife’s grass.

  • Jimmy Jacobs interviewed Johnny Swinger. Swinger ran down the young kids but will take one of them under his wing to give back to wrestling. As he doesn’t have social media, he has a PO Box for his fan club.
  • The Rascalz defeated Wagner Jr, Aerostar and Taurus

The Nygma’s Nutcracker(s) of the Week

– Shotzi Blackheart vs Madison Rayne
Kiera Hogan was on commentary. Rayne talked some shit to Blackheart, told her to lay down for the locker room leader, but Blackheart hit arm drags and a dropkick. The cannonball followed and Rayne powdered. Blackheart followed her out, Rayne attacked. Post-break, Blackheart fought back, connected with strikes but Rayne hit a Northern Lights suplex and a sliding clothesline. Blackheart fought out of a cravat, but Rayne replied with knee strikes. Rayne hit an enzuigiri, missed a charge and Blackheart hit a dropkick. Blackheart followed with a bulldog, a knee strike and kicks. She continued with the 619, headed up top but had to roll through. Rayne catapulted her into the ropes and hit the Cross Rayne for the win.

– Team Impact (The Rascalz) vs Team AAA (Wagner Jr, Aerostar & Taurus) – Lucha Tag Rules
They brawled at the bell, Team AAA took control and isolated and triple-teamed Dez. They then worked over Wentz, triple-teaming him. They cleared the ring and then worked over Trey. Wagner worked a Romero special as Aerostar hit a double stomp. Post-break, Dez fired up and started making a comeback. Aerostar connected with an enzuigiri and a dropkick, Wentz joined in and so did Trey as the Rascalz took control. They triple-teamed Wagner.

Wentz hit a dive as the others brawled, Aerostar hit a step-up tope, Trey followed with a moonsault, Wagner hit a suicide dive and, back in, worked over Dez, hit a cutter and a powerbomb. Taurus connected with a German suplex, Aerostar hit a slingshot splash but Trey made the save. Wentz flew in with a knee strike, it broke down and Aerostar hit a cutter. Trey hit the Cheeky Nandos and a 619. The Meteora followed and the push-sault on Aerostar gave the win to Team Impact.

Nygma or Not-Nygma?

Ace Austin becoming XXX-Division Champion… Remind me never to let him mow the grass of my beloved garden… Thumbs down to Sami Callihan, we don’t threaten to attack a toddler because of a belt. Thumbs up to Team Impact vs Team AAA that has always been great matches, this one was a must-see…

To be eNYGMAtic…

This was what we call a reaction show and it played well, with some fresh content to follow up on the momentum from Bound For Glory. This show completely followed my theory of The 4 Aces. Strong characters, open hand to young talents and partners, power to the women, and matches where everything can happen, that is really what Impact Wrestling is about. In case you didn’t know it… Next week, we’ll have some action with the true Fallout from Bound For Glory and it should be a show to remember…
Impact may be on Tuesday or Friday in the USA, on Friday or another day in the UK, no reason for me not to tell you my weekly tales. Because Impact Wrestling is The Nygma’s House, period.
On this “Nygma, Now, Then, Forever” note, until next week, never EVER forget to stay #eNYGMAtic…
