MLW today announced Brian Pillman Jr. will be honoured by Pro Wrestling Illustrated at MLW: FIGHTLAND at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia this Saturday, February 1. The event will be a MLW FUSION TV taping for beIN SPORTS.
Since 1979 the leading publication in the sport, Pro Wrestling Illustrated, has been covering the sport and each year they give out their year-end awards. This Saturday night at MLW: FIGHTLAND, Pro Wrestling Illustrated’s Kevin McElvaney will award Brian Pillman Jr the 2019 Rookie of the Year Award.
Savio Vega is fed up with the obnoxious elitists known as The Dynasty. So much so the “Pride of Puerto Rico” is coming to Philly’s historic 2300 Arena this Saturday night looking to pick a fight.
Having had his prized Caribbean Championship, a belt held by some of wrestling’s all-time greats, literally stolen by the smug affluent athletes, “Tio Savio” now looks to beat some respect into the Dynasty.
Will the legendary brawler make good on Philadelphia throwdown? Or will the Dynasty avoid Vega’s vengeance?

After announcing over the last few days the first participants, Impact Wrestling today announced an Ultimate X match will take place at the upcoming TNA-themed event from Impact Wrestling and WrestleCon. The current line-up of wrestlers for the event includes Disco Inferno, The Amazing Red, Petey Williams, Scott Steiner, Wildcat Chris Harris, Chris Sabin, and Aces & 8s, which will be represented by D’Lo Brown and Ken Anderson.
With The Monsters Ball, Ultimate-X is one of the TNA/Impact Wrestling signature matches. Since August 2003, 43 Ultimate-X matches have taken place. With 17 appearances and 8 victories, Chris Sabin is the wrestler who has been the most used to fighting it.
Ultimate-X is contested by three or more wrestlers of the X Division. Two cables, connected to metal structures rising from the four corners of the ring, cross 15 feet above the middle of the ring. In this “No Limits and No Ladders” match, an object (usually a championship belt or a large red “X”) is suspended from where the cables cross. The winner is the first person to take possession of the hung object.
As noted before, the show is quoted as “There’s No Place Like Home” which is a reference to TNA being based in the Orlando, FL area years ago. The Impact TNA event will take place on Friday, April 3 in Ybor City, Florida at The Ritz. It will air live on Fite TV at 7 pm ET. Tickets for “TNA: There’s No Place Like Home” are on sale now at Wrestlecon.com.
