SmackDown was taped from the Performance Center, still with no crowd. Money In The Bank PPV is 2 days away. The show is stacked, as Sonya Deville will fight Mandy Rose. Bray Wyatt and Universal Champion Braun Strowman will face off. Jeff Hardy will return, and Sheamus will also be there. Tamina Snuka will team up with Lacey Evans against Sasha Banks and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley. Also, Daniel Bryan, Drew Gulak and a mystery partner will square off with Cesaro, King Baron Corbin and Shinsuke Nakamura. Let’s get into it.

  • Before the opener, Otis walked up and asked what he can do to help his peach. Mandy has been ready for this match and told Otis to focus on Money In the Bank while she will take care of Sonya Deville. Rose and Otis kissed before she walked off. Meanwhile, Dolph Ziggler walked up and Sonya Deville talked about how she’s been ready. Ziggler said he will be waiting here for her. He asked her to take it easy on Rose’s face for him. She couldn’t make any promises. Deville walked off.
  • Sonya Deville defeated Mandy Rose in a brutal brawl.
  • The Forgotten Sons (Wesley Clarke & Steve Cutler w/Jaxson Ryker), John Morrison & The Miz vs. SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day (Big E & Kofi) & Lucha House Party (Lince Dorado & Gran Metalik). The Miz pinned Lince Dorado after a Skull Crushing Finale. Some excellent high-flying spots from The Lucha House Party. Miz and Morrison tried to high-five The Forgotten Sons but they wanted none of it.

  • King Corbin told Kayla Braxton about what he, Nakamura and Cesaro have done to Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak, and said no one would want to be their partner. Corbin was looking ahead to Money In the Bank and torturing his opponents through the halls of WWE HQ. He talked about possibly throwing Rey Mysterio off the building. He made jokes on Otis’ weight next and called him a loser like his girlfriend Mandy Rose. Corbin said he can already feel the cool fresh air as Mr. Money In the Bank.
  • Renee Young welcomed Jeff Hardy in the ring. She brought up his recent four-part series. She asked what Jeff has left to prove. Sheamus was watching and listening to him backstage, not impressed. Jeff talked about how he’s seen the highs and lows, and how every low taught him how to get back up. He could still hear the fans chanting his name and how fans have always stuck with him. He asked fans to stay with him for one more good run, he knows he’s not done. Jeff mentioned Sheamus being here and called him out. From the stage, Sheamus said this is the saddest thing he’s ever seen in WWE, the adrenaline junkie came crawling back to beg for one more sip off the bottle, and the fans weren’t even here to give him a swig. Sheamus asked Jeff who he thinks still cares about him. No one will say it to his face because he’s a legend, but Sheamus will. Jeff may have had every title and had the fans but they’re tired of all his suspensions, they’re tired of the releases, the no-shows, and the wasted chances. Jeff said, to be such a hater, Sheamus sure knows a lot about him. Sheamus replied he’s not a hater, he used to respect Jeff. The recent video package made Sheamus wonder how many false comebacks a man can have before we realize he’s never coming back. Jeff said Sheamus should ask himself the same thing, fella. Sheamus went on and said he’s been putting out SmackDown’s weakest flames since he returned, and now it’s time to put Jeff’s out. Sheamus attacked Jeff but he replied with a Whisper In the Wind, a Twist of Fury, and the Swanton. Jeff went to the opposite corner and yelled out. Sheamus yelled out to Jeff, threatening him over the disrespect. Sheamus said he’s going to rip Jeff apart.

  • Universal Champion Braun Strowman made his way to the ring. Strowman said the truth is he did debut with The Wyatt Family but Bray Wyatt is not responsible for his success and is deranged if he thinks so. Wyatt felt threatened by him back then but he should feel even more threatened now. The Firefly Fun House music hit as Wyatt walked down the ramp, smiling and staring at Strowman. Wyatt said it’s a shame it had to come to this. All he ever wanted for Braun was to say he’s sorry. Strowman replied he owes Wyatt nothing and Wyatt will be the one who’s sorry this Sunday. Wyatt went on about how he created Wyatt and he knows what he’s going to say, do and he knows what’s best. Strowman told Wyatt to shut up, he knows nothing about Strowman or what he will do or say. Wyatt said all he knows is Strowman needs to come home, he didn’t belong out there with the rest of them. Wyatt could show Strowman how to be, to be like him, he just needs to remove that burden around his waist so he can come home, it’s the only thing standing in Strowman’s way. Wyatt said he needs to get the title back, trying to get Strowman to say “get these hands!” and Strowman said he’s not an idiot, he’s not falling for that. Strowman said Wyatt doesn’t know him, and this all ends at Money In the Bank. Wyatt laughed and said their journey is just beginning. Wyatt didn’t want to spoil the fun, but let him give Strowman a taste of things to come. Wyatt brought out the black sheep mask and handed it to Strowman, telling him to take it and come home. Strowman just looked at it. We saw each of the Fun House puppets being shown, telling Strowman to do it and come home. Strowman said he is home, and he’s got the Universal Title. This Sunday, he’s going to keep it, and Wyatt will be stuck playing with his puppets. They stared at each other. Strowman mocked Wyatt, waved goodbye and said he will see Wyatt on Sunday. Wyatt said he tried. He kept apologizing to Strowman, saying he tried. Wyatt stared Strowman down as he talked trash from the stage.

  • Daniel Bryan and Drew Gulak talked to Otis walking backstage. They asked him how Mandy Rose was. She was beaten up but she will be OK. They asked Otis if he heard what King Corbin said about him earlier. He didn’t because he was with Mandy. They told Otis to walk with them so they could tell him what Corbin said.
  • Tamina & Lacey Evans defeated Sasha Banks & SmackDown Women Champion Bayley. Excellent teamwork from Bayley and Banks. Tamina pinned Bayley after a superkick and a Samoan Drop.
  • Video package on WWE Headquarters and how the men’s and women’s MITB ladder matches will be all over the building, going to the roof.

  • Carmella and Dana Brooke were with Kayla Braxton She asked Dana if lightning will strike twice after it did with the win over Naomi, this Sunday with a MITB win. She teased Carmella about not believing in her. Brooke said no one knows what to expect in this match and she thinks she has as good of a chance as anyone else. Carmella mentioned winning MITB twice in the past. She said this is every woman for herself and friendships or alliances won’t matter. Carmella said when she climbs that corporate ladder on Sunday she will remind everyone once again why Mella Is Money.
  • King Corbin, Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro defeated Daniel Bryan, Drew Gulak & Otis. Corbin pinned Gulak after The End of Days outta nowhere. They all brawled after the match. Corbin tried to climb the ladder but Bryan, then Otis, prevented him from. Otis tried to climb the ladders but broke the first rungs. Corbin finally reached the top of the ladder and grabbed the briefcase.

  • During the main-event entrances, the hacker appeared. The video flashed images of Tamina Snuka and Lacey Evans, SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day, Sasha Banks and SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley, and Carmella and Dana Brooke. Was this meant to tease heel turns for Evans, Big E, Carmella, or a swerve? The best thing about anger is you can always hear it before you can see it, the hooded hacker said. He played a voicemail with a woman saying “payback is coming and it’s coming real soon.” Then “The truth will be heard” flashed on the screen.

Overall, it was the Money In The Bank go-home edition of SmackDown. And there’s nothing else to add. Just read our MITB predictions piece later today.
