A Preview for Double or Nothing:

Over on AEW’s YouTube channel, the company has been publishing some weekly Road To Double or Nothing videos where you can see previews of the upcoming matches featured on the PPV. The latest Road To Double or Nothing is available to watch below.

Since the beginning of AEW, there has been one stand out young heel within the roster, MJF. We will see MJF seek out to beat one-third of the Jurassic Express, Jungle Boy, in singles competition on Double or Nothing. This matchup has become personal for Jungle Boy over the last few weeks on AEW’s weekly Dynamite show, as we have seen MJF and his bodyguard Wardlow attacking not only Jungle Boy but one of his partners Marko Stunt as well.

A late announcement for the Double or Nothing card as, during this week’s Dynamite, we saw Shawn Spears call out Dustin Rhodes and challenge him to a match on the PPV. Over the last few weeks, we have seen Spears accuse Dustin’s brother Cody of deliberately allowing his opponent at Double or Nothing, Lance Archer, to put his brother through an unnecessary beating.

The matchup between Dr. Britt Baker and Kris Statlander could be at jeopardy due to an injury Britt Baker picked up during this week’s Dynamite show. While it could be at jeopardy, AEW has not confirmed nor denied that Britt Baker will not be able to compete this weekend. This matchup has not had much build-up surrounding it, we have seen a few matches between the two against other female competitors on Dynamite and Dark, but that is pretty much it.

One of the most exciting matches announced for the Double or Nothing card was the first-ever Stadium Stampede Match between the Inner Circle and The Elite. For the Stadium Stampede Match, The Elite will include Matt Hardy who is replacing Cody’s spot on the team. This matchup has been well built up over the last few weeks, with an incredible street fight between the team of Kenny Omega and Matt Hardy. This was followed by another tag match against the Inner Circle and several singles competitions. The rivalry between the Inner Circle and Matt Hardy came to a head though when we saw the on-screen murder of Vanguard 1 two weeks ago on Dynamite.

Another first for AEW during the Double or Nothing PPV is the first-ever Casino Ladder Match. Nine competitors will face off against one another with the hopes of winning a title shot for the AEW World Championship. Darby Allin, Colt Cabana, Orange Cassidy, Rey Fénix, Scorpio Sky, Kip Sabian, Frankie Kazarian, Luchasaurus and a mystery opponent will all compete in the first-ever Casino Ladder Match. We have seen all the competitors in this match attack one another in some way. Last week, Rey Fénix attacked Orange Cassidy. This week, Darby Allin played pretend poker with his opponents, and everyone else involved ended up in a brawl after Orange Cassidy’s match with Rey Fénix.

Since the start of the global pandemic, we have seen AEW announce there would be a new championship title, the TNT Championship. Over several weeks, we saw eight competitors get narrowed down to two, Cody and Lance Archer. This match became incredibly personal for Cody as Lance Archer and his in-ring manager Jake Roberts attacked Cody’s wife, Brandi, and placed a live snake onto her unconscious body. This led to a brawl breaking out between Cody and Lance on last week’s Dynamite episode. Will we see Cody break the Murderhawk and gain retribution for his wife?

Another huge announcement for AEW’s Double or Nothing is that “Iron” Mike Tyson will be presenting the first-ever TNT champion with the highly anticipated TNT Championship belt.

It seemed a long time coming when Nyla Rose won the AEW Women’s World Championship on an episode of Dynamite in February 2020. Now her title is under threat once again, but this time by fan-favourite, Hikaru Shida. Just a few weeks ago, Shida showed the world how much of a dangerous competitor she can be as she broke Dr. Britt Baker’s nose during a match. We also saw storyline surrounding Shida’s missing kendo stick, which of course Nyla Rose has stolen. This led to it being announced last week that there would be no disqualifications and no count-outs.

The main event at Double or Nothing will see AEW World Champion Jon Moxley try to retain against the Dark Order leader, Mr. Brodie Lee. Brodie Lee debuted only a few months ago and was announced as the Exalted One, as he took over control of the Dark Order. Since then, we have seen how intimidating Mr. Brodie Lee is as a leader, he demands a lot from his followers and has laid out his plans for controlling the whole company. His first stop was, of course, the current AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, who did not take to kindly to the beating he received at the hands of the Dark Order creepers, and even less kindly to the Dark Order stealing his championship belt. Will Jon Moxley be successful in regaining his championship belt? Or will his belt definitely fall into dark and evil hands?
