The WWE NXT UK TV tapings scheduled for Friday, July 24 and Saturday, July 25 at the Braehead Arena in Glasgow, Scotland have been cancelled. The arena officially announced the cancellation today, which comes amid the coronavirus pandemic. Ticketholders will be contacted shortly for refunds.
Last NXT UK tapings took place in Coventry in early March. NXT UK Takeover: Dublin PPV was set on April 26, but COVID-19 forced that show to be pushed back to Sunday, October 25. The WWE Network continues to air “Best Of” special edition episodes of NXT UK each Thursday.
Triple H discussed the NXT UK brand during his recent Takeover: In Your House media call and said: “We’re still committed to that as ever. I can’t wait. I know we have a lot of athletes chomping at the bit. They can’t wait for the race to be big enough, so the restraint should be taken off and let them get back to what they do and what they love to do. I think when they’re given the green light, the product’s going to be spectacular, just from their enthusiasm.”
He added, “We have to figure out where things will go after we come out of this situation, but that is very much still a goal. When all of this first started to happen, talent like Pete Dunne, we sent them home because we could see some of this travel stuff happen. We were trying to get them back before it became problematic, and now, we’re just waiting for this to open up so we can get back to doing what we do, and they can get back to their careers. So, when all of this is behind us, it will be very exciting for them.”
