WWE cancelled Tuesday 16th June TV tapings at the Performance Center in Florida due to a development wrestler, reportedly not a member of the NXT roster but an NXT developmental trainee, testing positive for Covid-19. At present the trainee is unnamed, but instead of the tapings taking place, all WWE employees who attend the centre for tapings are being tested for Covid-19 as a precautionary.
WWE released this statement late on Monday evening.
“A developmental talent, who was last on-site at WWE’s training facility on Tuesday, June 9, has tested positive for COVID-19. Since that time, no other individuals that attended the facility have reported symptoms. However, out of an abundance of caution and to ensure the health and safety of the company’s performers and staff, all talent, production crew and employees on-site at the training and production facilities will be tested for COVID-19 immediately. Following the test results, WWE plans to proceed with its normal television production schedule.”
WWE have now rescheduled the tapings to Wednesday 17th June. The company will now tape an episode of RAW, SmackDown, Main Event and 205 Live from the Performance Center and two episodes of NXT from Full Sail.
