ESPN broke the news today that the reigning World Heavyweight Champion Jacob Fatu has signed on to stay with MLW exclusively for the foreseeable future. ESPN explains MLW penned Fatu to a deal in late 2019 and this new one extends it four more years, into late 2025, per sources, and exclusively.

MLW.com spoke exclusively with MLW CEO and Founder Court Bauer about the deal. “What better way to kick off the second year of the MLW World Heavyweight Champion’s reign than a new long-term deal,” said Bauer. “To have Fatu locked up exclusively for what will essentially be the rest of his prime in the sport is huge for the league, fans, Fatu and his family.”

Fatu, “one of the hottest talents outside those promotions,” is part of the famed Anoa’i wrestling family. His father is Tonga Kid, Rikishi is his uncle and his cousins are Roman Reigns and the Usos. Fatu is a member of the CONTRA UNIT faction, alongside Josef Samael, Ikuro Kwon and Simon Gotch.
