Welcome back to MLW Fusion. After last week’s trip to the past, we’re going hurtling into the present-day once again as we have a whole host of title messes to sort out. Tonight’s show would offer not one but three title fights between multiple factions. The Dirty Blondes had been granted another Tag Title shot against Los Parks after coming up short to the Von Erichs last time, Gino Medina had a chance to take Richard Holliday’s Caribbean Championship and in our main event, Alexander Hammerstone looks to take back his title from the thieving clutches of Mil Muertes and Azteca Underground. Let’s see who was successful.

Caribbean Title: Richard Holliday defeated Gino Medina via 2008 Market Crash

Up first was the battle of the Caribbean Title. Gino Medina had been gunning for Holliday since he quit The Dynasty and now, he could wound both Holliday’s title status and his pride with a big win here. Holliday was still adamant he fired Gino and the pair started with an arguing shoving contest. Medina sent Holliday to the outside with a back heel kick and beat him down around the outside. Both brawled outside and Medina dumped Holliday back into the ring. Holliday took him out with a flying elbow as he flipped back in and both traded corner chops. Medina tried to remove the turnbuckle cover and ran Holliday into the ring post. He scored a two-count and continued to beat down Holliday, clawing at his face for good measure. Holliday started hammering back but Medina had him on his back again with a Manzanita. That scored another two-count so Medina just continued to punish Holliday, beating him down and choking him with a corner boot. Medina kept playing dirty as he went to Holliday’s ears and hands and Holliday finally got his comeback by ducking an enzuigiri and tanking a roll-up to deliver a backdrop. He countered into a massive head kick and dumped Medina into the mat with a spinebuster. Medina escaped a gutwrench into another pin attempt and dropped Holliday on the buckles with Snake Eyes, then took Holliday’s head off with a running knee. Medina hit Holliday with the 2008 but Holliday kicked out of his own finisher so Medina booted him into the exposed turnbuckle with a ripcord enzuigiri. He charged and Holliday dodged so Medina headbutted the exposed steel. Medina was stunned so Holliday hit 2008 and retained his title. This had been a hard-fought war with Medina’s nefarious need to punish Holliday coming back to bite him in the ass. He’d left his mark on Holliday and somehow, I feel like this isn’t over. Especially since Holliday was so “gracious” in defeat.

MLW Tag Team Titles: Los Parks (LA Park, LA Park Jr & El Hijo de LA Park w/Salina de la Renta) defeated The Dirty Blondes (Leo Brien & Michael Patrick w/Aria Blake) via Double Low Blow Roll-up

Up next was a battle for the Tag Team Titles. Los Parks have held those belts through ever-escalating dirty deeds and now they were up against another team that wasn’t afraid to fight dirty, Colonel Robert Parker’s Dirty Blondes. This was going to be a brawl as LA Park and his sons would have to contend with these two bruisers. The Blondes attacked from behind and mauled both Parks. This beatdown continued throughout the whole first minutes of the match as neither Park could mount any offence. It took Hijo boosting his father for them to get anything going. LA Park killed both with a slingshot splash but the ref was distracted by Salina. Los Parks started bullying down Brien but Blake and Patrick saved them by dragging the Parks out. More brawling happened on the outside and Los Parks took down the Dirty Blondes with clotheslines. Patrick escaped doom by hitting Hijo low and splashed down hard onto him. Park stopped the count but he too got hit low by Patrick. Los Parks brought out LA Park Jr and he hit both Blondes low as the ref was distracted and Los Parks quickly rolled the pair up for the win. This had been pure brawling chaos as two dirty teams did battle and Los Parks retained through having a third member and the dirtier tactics. Even Salina and Blake were battling by the end of it all.

Between the Matches:

  • The show opened with Salina de la Renta being interviewed about her upcoming plans for the title matches. However, it seems she hadn’t run these plans by El Jefe and his representative was not happy.
  • The Von Erichs gave a statement since Marshall Von Erich couldn’t compete right now due to an injured knee. It turns out Keiji Mutoh (yes, NOAH Champion and wrestling legend Keiji Mutoh) wants to help train up Ross Von Erich so he’s headed to Japan.
  • TJP was interviewed post-suspension and had plenty to talk about when it came to Bu Ku Dao and the fine he’d had to pay. TJP wasn’t scared of the fight with Dao next week and even made disparaging comments about social media engagement (I wonder why…)
  • Mads Krügger had another taunting video for Hammerstone, threatening him from the shadows and telling him to be paranoid as he was still on the hunt. Beware the Black Hand of CONTRA.
  • Lio Rush was laughing off any future challengers and talked about how his music was going and plugged his brand. He took shots at Myron Reed for making music too, hopefully hinting at a future defence down the road. He promised to keep the fans entertained so they could keep him paid. Funnily enough, Myron Reed answered some questions on that rematch and promised it was coming now that CONTRA was out of the picture.

MLW National Openweight Title: Alexander Hammerstone defeated Mil Muertes (w/Salina de la Renta) via Nightmare Pendulum

Last but not least, the main event. Alex Hammerstone has been without his titles for several weeks since Muertes has ambushed him and stolen his title. Now, Hammerstone presented the Man of 1000 Deaths a proper opportunity to claim the gold. This wouldn’t be an easy fight for either man as both are borderline undefeatable. They started fast as both charged and Hammerstone launched Muertes with an overhead belly to belly. Hammerstone continued to push the speed and downed Muertes with a missile dropkick. Muertes took the fight outside and used the ring to damage Hammerstone, then choked him with a belt. He stomped down Hammerstone and targeted his back with devastating efficiency. He softened up the neck too and dropped Hammerstone on his head with a DDT. Muertes cut off a Hammerstone comeback with a lariat and went back to mauling him around the ring. Hammerstone dodged a corner charge and made the mistake of charging Muertes, running shoulder-first into the ring post. Both got downed on a double lariat and Hammerstone found his second wind. He threw himself into a flying clothesline and after a corner beatdown, threw Muertes with a Pumphandle Suplex.

He got two and pummelled Muertes with running strikes but Muertes dragged him into a powerslam. Hammerstone fought back up and rocked Muertes with a ripcord rolling elbow and bicycle kick so Muertes broke Hammerstone’s back with a backstabber. Hammerstone powered through and launched Muertes with a German, then slammed him into the mat with a sit-out powerbomb. Muertes nailed a jawbreaker and the pair had a kneeling punch-out. They fought to their feet, traded more bombs, and reversed the other’s finisher until Hammerstone landed the Nightmare Pendulum. He had reclaimed the title he never lost and proved that Azteca Underground’s deadliest weapon could fall. This was an excellent bout and it’s nice to Hammerstone back at 100% lethality. Hammerstone has some big news coming next week. Plus, we’ll see what happens between TJP and Bu Ku Dao. See you then.
