AEW has announced to the press that it has inked a multi-year deal with collectibles and trading card company Upper Deck to bring to life an exclusive series of AEW Trading Cards and other collectibles. These will include legends like Sting and Chris Jericho as well as current and former champs like Kenny Omega, Miro, Dr. Britt Baker, Hikaru Shida, The Young Bucks, Nyla Rose, Cody, and more. This is a first-time for Upper Deck with the first edition of AEW Wrestling trading cards scheduled to release in November 2021.
Paul Zickler, the Upper Deck Sports Brand manager explained more about Upper Deck’s excitement towards the agreement:
“We are excited to offer professional wrestling trading cards to our collectors and AEW fans for the first time. AEW is a prominent organization in the industry with a passionate fan base, and we look forward to building a long-lasting relationship and a robust wrestling product portfolio.”
As well as trading cards, this inaugural AEW set will also include rare autographs, wrestler-worn gears, and ring mats. There will also be rare and serial numbered cards too. AEW CEO, GM, and Head of Creative Tony Khan also expressed his excitement towards the deal and why AEW is bringing more companies and merchandise into the fold:
“Upper Deck is the premier collectibles company in the world for trading cards and memorabilia, and we’re thrilled to work with them in expanding our engagement even further with fans around the world. Since day one, we’ve made it a priority to listen to our fans and connect with them in new and immersive ways. This includes the new AEW RAMPAGE on Friday nights on TNT, our action figures that fly off the shelves, a next-gen console game that incorporates fans’ feedback, and now these amazing trading cards and memorabilia. AEW has the greatest fans on the planet, and we hope they love this new way to engage with our stars.”
The cards will be available at Hobby Shops and Upper Deck Authorised Internet Sellers for physical releases and available on Upper Deck e-Pack®, a digital platform to collect, open, and interact with Upper Deck’s cards worldwide.
