WARNING: STRONG VIOLENCE AHEAD

It’s spooky season once again. You know what that means. It’s time to dive into another 31 deadly, bloody, horrifying deathmatches as we go into the 3rd annual deathmatch calendar. As always, this will be a day-by-day calendar of gore as we break into some of the greatest, nastiest, and most infamous of deathmatches across the years culminating with my pick of the year so far at the number 31 spot. With the preamble out of the way, let’s see what is awaiting us in this year’s tour of wrestling terror.

How do you celebrate ten years as a tag team? Well in the case of Los Macizos, the former GCW Tag Champions and Lucha Extrema masters of the US, Japan, and Mexico, you fight in an explosive deathmatch. Meido Extremo and Ciclope are two of the top-tier names in Mexican deathmatch wrestling and have really done it all. They are great friends and proved to be better enemies as this was an ultraviolent war. There are so many high-quality deathmatches from this pair, be it as a team, a trio with others, or as singles stars but here, we look at them as enemies in a promotion I’ve never had the joy of writing about before. Lucha Extrema is an art form unto itself when it is done properly. The mix of fast-paced technicality, high-flying, and extreme violence is a sight to behold. Now, they were throwing explosions into the mix for nearly 20-minutes of ultraviolence.

This match was cool before it even got going as Meido Extremo re-enacted the infamous Onita cigarette entrance. They opened with traditional chain wrestling and danced around and into the exploding wire ropes. From there it got intense as bodies continued to meet the exploding barbed wire and light tubes entered the fray. The pair threw in their fast Lucha wrestling, counterwork and deathmatch smarts to make an ultraviolent masterpiece. Ciclope filled the ring with tacks and curb-stomped Extremo’s face into them and sacrificed his own ass with a piledriver into them. The crowd seemed to be behind Ciclope so Extremo just got meaner and meaner as he fought back into the fight with bundles and break-neck high-flying. An exploding bat entered the mix and proved to be a lethal addition as Extremo nailed Ciclope in the temple with it. That only marked the halfway point as the pair took the fight to a scaffold where Ciclope got some revenge by sending Extremo crashing to the mat into an exploding barbed-wire board. He quickly followed Extremo down with a Bundle Frog Splash and slugged it out as the ring belched fire from all sides. Ciclope set up a death pile and dumped Extremo into it to take the win. It had taken multiple explosions, tubes, and death drops but Ciclope had taken the win in this battle of barbed wire. Once the smoke was settled, the pair were back to being friends but for these minutes, they’d tried to kill each other. It was an awesome encounter and a chance to admire another promotion that slips under my radar. Come back tomorrow for your next deathmatch delight.
