WARNING: STRONG VIOLENCE AHEAD

It’s spooky season once again. You know what that means. It’s time to dive into another 31 deadly, bloody, horrifying deathmatches as we go into the 3rd annual deathmatch calendar. As always, this will be a day-by-day calendar of gore as we break into some of the greatest, nastiest, and most infamous of deathmatches across the years culminating with my pick of the year so far at the number 31 spot. With the preamble out of the way, let’s see what is awaiting us in this year’s tour of wrestling terror.

Many of us know of the grappling prowess, striking power, and sheer badassery of Timothy Thatcher. An indie darling, a wXw darling, a worldwide shooter and now living it up in WWE. But before a lot of that, much is the case with a lot of our favourites, he was doing deathmatches and getting bloody as hell whilst doing so. Timothy Thatcher isn’t just shoot tough as nails; he’s been deathmatch tested in the past too. There sadly aren’t too many examples out there of this terrifying prospect. I covered one in the first-ever deathmatch calendar with the Fight Club Pro Death House and now, we’re going back in time to once again to a long though lost Taipei Deathmatch between Thatcher and Big Ugly J.D Bishop. The Ugly Dojo found the tape and now, this match can live forever. Let’s see what happens when you give Timothy Thatcher, the British Messiah, glass.

This one opened with the usual ducking and weaving feeling out process as the pair dodged getting glassed. Thatcher threw some headbutts to minimal effect and pissed Bishop off. This saw him taken to the mat and pummelled with glassy punches. The blood started to flow and Bishop kept using his knuckles to tear that wound open. He kicked Thatcher in the back of the neck with a dropkick and bit into the wound but this just pissed Thatcher off and he started doling out uppercuts to the neck and punches to Bishop. Now both guys were bloody and Thatcher was taking the lead with running uppercuts. They brawled and bled to the outside with Bishop bringing out the tubes and Thatcher smashing one into his back. Thatcher climbed to the stage for a diving axe handle and got swatted out of the air by a tube and Bishop covered the ring in tacks when he crawled his way back in. Bishop went for a powerbomb and got a back full of tacks as Thatcher threw him off with a back body drop. Thatcher made the same mistake and tasted tacks again as Bishop dumped him into the pile with a Spinebuster. Things went from bad to worse as Bishop hit a tube Shattered Dreams and slammed Thatcher into the glass and tack pile again. Bishop kept playing with his food and rammed Thatcher into the turnbuckles with a surfboard battering ram. Thatcher got his wind back and launched Bishop with a release German. Both guys were down and staggered back to their feet to beat the shit out of each other again. Thatcher knocked Bishop loopy, applied a Sharpshooter and hoisted Bishop up to maintain the hold, and dropped Bishop face-first on a tube. Bishop tapped after another stretch in the hold and Thatcher was declared the winner. He had lost a lot of blood and taken a lot of glass but the British Messiah bested Bishop and all the brutality he had brought with him. This was a nasty little match that I’m glad has made the light of day. It’s always fun diving into a wrestler’s past and this proved to be no exception. Come back tomorrow for the next deathmatch delight.
