WARNING: STRONG VIOLENCE AHEAD

It’s spooky season once again. You know what that means. It’s time to dive into another 31 deadly, bloody, horrifying deathmatches as we go into the 3rd annual deathmatch calendar. As always, this will be a day-by-day calendar of gore as we break into some of the greatest, nastiest, and most infamous of deathmatches across the years culminating with my pick of the year so far at the number 31 spot. With the preamble out of the way, let’s see what is awaiting us in this year’s tour of wrestling terror.

For lucky number 13, we’re doing something a bit different. We’re talking about the PWI 2021 #500 wrestler, Lulu Pencil, and the time she took on deathmatch veteran and then-BJW Deathmatch heavyweight champion, Minoru Fujita in a deathmatch to end out ChocoPro’s season 4. We’d seen Pencil battle her way through any challenge that came her way as she tried to show off all her determination and will to be a wrestler, now she’d have to go to war with one of the top stars of the deathmatch game in his element. With this being ChocoPro, it wasn’t going to be the absolute bloodiest, nastiest, or most violent thing on the planet but oh boy, was it fun and provided some deathmatch fun ChocoPro style.

I reviewed this match originally as part of my ongoing ChocoPro series so I won’t give you the full play-by-play this time. This was pure chaos from start to finish. The pair fought from bell to bell with all sorts of chaotic plunder. We saw lightsabres enter the mix, Lulu try to murder Fujita with a stepladder and even a game of Five Finger Fillet using a pencil as Pencil did her best to fight the might of Fujita. This is another perfect example of how ChocoPro is so damn good at blending genres. It had plunder spots, excellent technical wrestling, and all the drama and heart you’d want in a wrestling match. There were stool spots, fights in the dark, generic toy blocks, marbles, and more as Pencil and Fujita genuinely tried to put on an Ichigaya-style deathmatch. We saw the infamous Kamikaze stool splash in this one that Fujita would go on to use regularly despite its low success rate. These may not be the obvious light tubes and barbed wire but man, did Pencil and Fujita make it look like it hurt. It was a compelling fight with a whole host of different moments to enjoy. ChocoPro is always up for breaking boundaries and pushing the limits of creativity and as I said, this is one of the perfect examples of it. Because of this match, Minoru Fujita joined the ranks of the Pencil Army and teamed up with Pencil on multiple occasions helping her embrace the dark side. If you want another example of ChocoPro bringing in deathmatch veterans, they also did a laugher deathmatch with Jaki Numazawa for Halloween 2020. Be sure to come back tomorrow for the next deathmatch delight.
