WARNING: STRONG VIOLENCE AHEAD

It’s spooky season once again. You know what that means. It’s time to dive into another 31 deadly, bloody, horrifying deathmatches as we go into the 3rd annual deathmatch calendar. As always, this will be a day-by-day calendar of gore as we break into some of the greatest, nastiest, and most infamous of deathmatches across the years culminating with my pick of the year so far at the number 31 spot. With the preamble out of the way, let’s see what is awaiting us in this year’s tour of wrestling terror.

The indies often get overlooked when it comes to story-telling. That is bullshit. I’ve already shown the epic that was Gage and RSP’s years-long feud and now, we’re going to look at another feud within the GCW conglomeration of companies as we head to their New Jersey companion, Jersey Championship Wrestling. This is the tale of Everett Connors and Charles Mason. Connors is a loveable fashionista, Mason an ultra-rich, ultraviolent sociopath who hates the poor a whole lot. They couldn’t be more opposed in personality and once they met in the ring, Connors stopping an assault on Billie Starkz, a blood feud was born. They fought each other across a whole range of shows and companies with it all culminating in this cage match. Mason and his hired goons Bam Sullivan and Slade would have nowhere to run as Connors looked to extract every bit of revenge he could. Mason wasn’t scared though; he’d tortured Connors before and he was more than happy to do it again. Mason had even gone full American Psycho coming to the cage in a raincoat, though he was missing the axe. Connors was alone, in white, and ready to fight. It wasn’t a specific cage of deathmatch but they were certainly going to make it so by bleeding buckets and trying to kill each other. Mason would definitely try and end Connors for good so he could savour choking out his last breath.

It started with death stares and a promise to send Connors in a body bag but Connors wasn’t putting up with it, launching Mason with a series of Germans. That raincoat was thrown away and Connors kept his beatdown going until Mason lawn-darted him into the cage. Mason bounced him off the cage again and dropped Connors on his head with a Sleeper Suplex. Connors fought up so Mason sent him into the cage again and dumped him again with a backdrop. He threw in some misdirection and leaped over Connors to nail a Tornado DDT into a Guillotine. Connors broke out but was still dazed so Mason backed him into the corner for some biting. Connors superkicked back and worked around Mason to drop him with Sliced Bread off the cage wall. He climbed up the cage and started climbing out to Mason followed him up and choked him over the cage wall, then superplexed him back to the mat. Mason got up first and carved Connors open with a fork. He tasted the blood and kept carving but this seemed to fire Connors up and the pair threw hands. Connors was pissed and gave Mason a tour of the cage walls, throwing him so hard that they threatened to dislodge. He chose violence again and kept beating down Mason, causing some crimson to flow from his head, instead of escaping. Connors went for the pin after a DDT and the camera got a good look at Mason’s bloody mug. Mason got the shock with an Air Raid Crash and tried to climb the cage. Connors followed and as he touched the chandelier, dropped Mason to the mat again with a Poisonrana. Connors tried to escape again but Mason cut it off with more biting. They both mounted the top of the cage and punched it out. Mason got the better of the exchange and produced another plastic bag to suffocate Connors with it. They both fell off the cage and crashed into the ring.

The goons came out and Sullivan and Slade bullied Connors. Billie Starkz tried to make the save but it was still 3-on-1 and a toss into the cage cut her off. Connors was tied to the cage as John Wayne Murdoch ran out to try and make a save. He mauled the trio but once again the goons were just too much. With the rescuers done in, Mason turned his attention to the bound and trapped Connors. A hooded figure rushed the ring and beat the hell out of everyone with a barbed-wire bat. They cut Connors free and levelled the competition with a Saito and a lariat. They gave Connors a chair and urged him to end things. Connors brained Slade and Mason with the chair and took the win. With the match down, one question remained, who was the saviour? They unmasked and it was revealed that it was Charli Evans, Connors’ girlfriend. She’d flown across from Australia to make the save. Now that deathmatch love story makes sense, right? A bloody war ended by one of the most heart-warming moments in recent months. Who says it has to be all doom and gloom? Come back tomorrow for the next deathmatch delight.
