WARNING: STRONG VIOLENCE AHEAD
It’s spooky season once again. You know what that means. It’s time to dive into another 31 deadly, bloody, horrifying deathmatches as we go into the 3rd annual deathmatch calendar. As always, this will be a day-by-day calendar of gore as we break into some of the greatest, nastiest, and most infamous of deathmatches across the years culminating with my pick of the year so far at the number 31 spot. With the preamble out of the way, let’s see what is awaiting us in this year’s tour of wrestling terror.
Some of the top spectacles in Lucha Libre come from Mascaras’ matches. When your mask or your hair is on the line, you will always fight like hell to the bloody end to protect them. That is what we are looking at today. It’s been a while since AAA appeared on the calendar so I want to rectify that with a match from the AAA YouTube channel featuring Pagano, one of the top blood fighters in Mexico, and Psycho Clown, one of the all-time best Luchadores of this generation. Psycho Clown was defending his mask, Pagano his hair and they had a whole lot of toys to use in achieving that defence. This was to be the main event so it was either going to get very scrappy or very bloody, hell maybe even both. This wasn’t going to be for the faint of heart or weak of constitution. This type of match may strike a chord with people as Psycho Clown competed in another of these matches at the latest TripleMania against Rey Escorpion. For now, let’s dig into this battle of the clowns.
This was a pure fight from start to finish. They went from scrapping in the ring to brawling around the outside. It was all traditional wrestling for the opening stretch with both scoring near-falls and hard hits early on. Pagano tried to claim the mask early and brained Clown with a chair. Clown’s mask was torn to hell and Pagano made him bleed through the open tears. The beatdown on Clown did ease up at all as Pagano ragged him around by the torn mask and pummelled him around ringside. Clown came back with a trashcan and mercilessly beat Pagano, busting him open too. He bit into Pagano like a vampire and the fans doused both with beer. The fight went into the crowd and Clown leapt over the railing onto Pagano with a cannonball. The action returned to the ring and Clown carved up Pagano with a fork. Pagano smashed him in the face with a barrel and smashed himself off it attempting a dive. Clown threw in a board and the pair danced around it until Pagano broke it with a backdrop. The barbed wire came out and Pagano hammered a wreath of it into Clown’s midsection with a chair. He wrapped it around Clown’s face and both of them fought to the top rope. Clown sent Pagano falling and crippled them both with a barbed wire Frog Splash. Pagano seemed out for the count but again, struck out of nowhere with a Poisonrana onto a wired chair. Pagano set up a chair contraption and Clown powerbombed him right through it. Neither man would stay down so both got more weaponry, Pagano dropkicking Clown through another board. Pagano set up another contraption of death and littered it with tacks. They fought up top again and both crashed through it as Clown superplexed Pagano through the contraption. Things went chaotic as warring factions got involved to twist the result and Dr. Wagner Jr saved Psycho Clown only to drive him into the mat for Pagano. They set a table alight and Psycho Clown speared Pagano through it for the win. Psycho Clown had saved his mask despite the odds and put on a bloodbath. This was excellent fun and a nice slice of violence that comes when a wrestler’s prized possession is on the line. Come back tomorrow for the next deathmatch delight.
