Welcome back to ChocoPro and to the start of season 12. We’re on the cusp of the episode 200 specials and so, we have a triple bill of action to dive into. Today we’re covering the first day of action, #199. This would be the opening salvo for the celebrations and would play a significant part in the setup up of #200 Day 1. On this show we’d see, the next chapter in the Sayaka Obihiro vs Kappa Kozo feud and a tag team war between TropikaWild and the Ochazuke Sisters to determine a number one contender for the Asia Dream Tag Titles. This would be a Best Bros free show but you knew they’d be watching that one in order to gauge their next challengers. Let’s get into the action.

Kappa Kozo defeated Sayako Obihiro via Diving Headbutt

Up first was the continuation of the monster invasion of ChocoPro. Kappa Kozo and co were wreaking havoc on Ichigaya and that was showing no signs of slowing down as Kozo was opening the show against Sayaka Obihiro. It would be heavy hands taking on claws and bites as the Iron Chef continued her war against the Kappa. As per usual, the evil entity didn’t play nice and started things off by dragging Obihiro through a window for some sickening stomps. Obihiro did her best to weather the storm of earlier clubs and claws and actually bested Kozo in a Sumo contest. Kozo cut off any momentum she had with biting and took his frustrations out on both Obihiro and referee Koishikawa. Despite Obihiro’s resistance, Kozo was able to keep torturing her and even brought out rare headbutts to inflict more pain. She finally got her comeback after a chop fight and cut up Kozo with thrusts before nearly choking him out with her arm-twist. He was able to escape and both fighters impacted the mat-side furniture. Kozo ate a table shot and Obihiro was dropped onto the stools. There was another epic stool fight where Obihiro found a unique way to disarm the Kappa and nearly scored the win again with her Bridging Suplex. Obihiro tried to pull the mat trick again but as per usual, he wasn’t there and the pair awkwardly met at the windows. Kozo went on the attack again but Obihiro struck with Obihiro magic. Kozo survived again and clawed out Obihiro’s throat before ending her with a diving headbutt. The devious Kappa had won again despite Obihiro’s best efforts and in turn she buried the hatchet. They left together and we learned that Tokiko Kirihara had been the one to be switched in the mat. She was less than happy to have been forgotten about. That concluded an excellent opening match that took an old story and turned it into something new. There was a nice mix of violent action and Kappa antics with another odd unholy alliance forming at the end of it. Talk about opening season 12 with a shocker.

Number One Contender Tag: Ochazuke Sisters (Chie Koishikawa & Kaori Yoneyama) defeated TropikaWild (Yuna Mizumori & SAKI) via Sunset Clutch on Mizumori

The first main event of the triple-bill would be the crowning of a new number one contender team for the Asia Dream Tag Titles. With a vacant title spot to fill on Day 1, it fell to Ochazuke Sisters and TropikaWild to try and fill that spot. Koishikawa has been locked in an eternal war with Best Bros and now she could be facing them alongside one of their original opponents, Kaori Yoneyama. The problem was though, they’d have to get through TropikaWild and their levels of raw power. SAKI and Yoneyama opened with a technical war and brought in their partners to do the same. Mizumori once again showed off her power advantage and Koishikawa upped the energy to match her. The pair locked Mizumori in a double bow and arrow before SAKI stomped out the fun. TropikaWild used Koishikawa as a weapon against Yoneyama and turned her into their personal punching bag. Yoneyama and the power of running came to the rescue and we got another Yoneyama POV shot of the ensuing beatdown that followed as TropikaWild got their revenge. Mizumori did the same thing before finally returning the camera to Sayaka, who had been given the duty to commentate.

The mauling of Koishikawa continued as Yoneyama tried and failed to find spots to intervene. Koishikawa eventually escaped with the arm-drag and dropkick and unleashed Yoneyama on TropikaWild. She played both members of TropikaWild like fiddles and ran right into a Mizumori dropkick. TropikaWild locked on the hanging submission but Koishikawa was ready to free her. The teams kept going back-and-forth with double-teaming and escape attempts before TropikaWild continued their work on Yoneyama. With both Yoneyama and SAKI hurting, the pair crawled across the mat and went for the tag bringing in Koishikawa and Mizumori for one final scrap. Mizumori tried to dominate the exchange with power but Koishikawa used her speed and chops to keep the upper hand and nearly won with Acumen and the muffler. Mizumori continued the power games and both SAKI and Yoneyama interjected themselves into the fight to help their partners. Just as it looked like TropikaWild had it in the bag with double-team moves on both of the sisters, Koishikawa kicked out of multiple lariats and dodged a splash to roll-up Mizumori with a Sunset Clutch, with a little assistance from Yoneyama. This was huge. Koishikawa finally got a big win of her own. She had just pinned Yuna Mizumori and gotten her team a massive title shot. This is what everyone has wanted to see, Koishikawa getting the wins she deserves. The match itself was pretty fun, the chemistry on display worked nicely and it was pleasant to see the unlikely team get the shot. We’ll see just how well Ochazuke Sisters capitalise on that opportunity tomorrow as they battle Best Bros.
