As announced in the last 2 episodes of MLW Fusion, Major League Wrestling announced Ross Von Erich and Richard Holliday as participants in the 40-wrestler Battle Riot as MLW returns to New York City’s Melrose Ballroom on June 23, featuring an MLW Fusion TV taping.
The elder brother of the former world championship Von Erich tag team, Ross is the grounded, strategist, always gaming out scenarios for each and every fight. But how does the newest entrant map out a fight strategy with so many variables in the 40-wrestler extravaganza?
Ever the calculated and cerebral grappler, Ross “Shogun” Von Erich is training alongside his brother in Hawaii under the tutelage of their father, Kevin Von Erich, as the “Sons of Thunder” look to rock 38 other participants and embrace their “Von Erichs vs. everyone” wild, southern brawling mentality.
What happens if it comes down to Ross and his brother Marshall? It could happen. This is the most unpredictable match in the sport.
It’s debatable if Richard Holliday is truly dynastic but the delusional self-proclaimed sole proprietor has punched his ticket to the Battle Riot. His former Dynastic bro Hammerstone dominated and won last year’s Riot. Can the affluent and delusional Westport wrestler eclipse his rival and win in stunning fashion?
WHAT IS THE BATTLE RIOT?
A mash-up of a battle royal, royal rumble and Anything-Goes Street Fight, this super-sized main event will feature 40 wrestlers with new participants entering the ring every 60 seconds. There will be surprises! There will be legends! There will be WTF entries… and there will be no disqualifications. Elimination is by pinfall, submission, or throwing an individual over the top rope. Anything is possible in a Battle Riot.
WHAT DOES THE WINNER GET?
The winner gets a World Heavyweight Title Shot anywhere, anytime. It could be that night; it could be in 6 months. The challenger has the key to unlock an instant title shot against whoever the champion is.
Battle Riot Participants:
Lince Dorado, Marshall Von Erich, Killer Kross, Calvin Tankman, Alex Kane, Jacob Fatu, EJ Nduka, Matt Cross, Mini Abismo Negro, Ross Von Erich, Richard Holliday, and more to be announced in the days ahead.
