Welcome back to ChocoPro and the start of another season of wrestling madness. Ichigaya was heating up again with activity as the company had taken a short break and was ready to get back into action. Their first offering was a three-match card with a pleasant surprise as Emi Sakura was returning to her Queendom. She had the main event slot, reforming the Killer Queens with Mei Suruga to take on the combined might of Yuna Mizumori and Sayaka. Alongside that, we’d see the ChocoPro Ninja, Sayuri in action against Antonio Honda, and another hard-hitting encounter between Baliyan Akki and Shin Suzuki as the pair were in tag action. Akki had Masahiro Takanashi and Suzuki had Chie Koishikawa fleshing out their ranks. It was going to be a wild show so let’s dive into the action.

Baliyan Akki & Masahiro Takanashi vs Shin Suzuki & Chie Koishikawa goes to a time-limit draw

After Akki and Sakura had delivered an old-school intro and Suzume had dropped by to announce Suruga’s participation in an upcoming TJPW show as her tag partner, we kicked off the fights. The first match of the season was picking right up where the finale left up. Shin Suzuki had pinned Akki at the end of season 13 and now, to kick off the 14th season, we were going to see if he could do it again. Akki was joined by his frenemy and mentor Masahiro Takanashi whilst Suzuki was joined by one of his strongest teammates, Too Much Energy Chie Koishikawa. This was going to kick things off with a bang since there were some deep cuts to dig into for both Akki and Suzuki. Akki and Suzuki started intensely and once again, Suzuki seemed to get the better of Akki. The partners took over and we got another round of intense chain wrestling. Despite flashes of teamwork, Akki and Takanashi got the better of Koishikawa and she soon became the match’s punching bag. That didn’t last and we got even more Akki vs Suzuki carnage. Everything erupted as both teams threw out bombs and traded continuously until the timer ran out. Suzuki couldn’t get a second win in a row but he also didn’t lose. He still stands at the top of the title ranks and I can’t wait to watch the two collide. Plus, Koishikawa didn’t lose either. So, we got an interesting opening contest with all the intrigue of the title scene maintained. The 18th can’t come quick enough.

Antonio Honda defeated Sayuri via Anaconda Vice

Next up was something wholly more unpredictable. Antonio Honda is always a wild card in singles action and now he was going one-on-one with the ChocoPro ninja Sayuri. Anything and everything could happen in a match like this and I’m sure we were about to see that. Nothing is ever as it seems when Ninja magic and prop comedy mix. It started fairly tame with some crisp chain wrestling and descended into lunacy as Honda brought out the timeout strike and whipped Sayuri with her own gloves. He tried to hide his evil with jokes but everyone could see it. Sayuri joined in the jokes and brought out the ninja offence, lighting up Honda. He smashed her off the wall and cut that off for a sleeper hold. Sayuri nearly passed out but Gon came to the rescue. Honda relaxed the pair with a song and they both went for roll-ups. After another scramble for control, Honda locked in the Anaconda Vice and took the win. It had been a fun and frantic match bringing the usual Honda hilarity to the season premiere. Sayuri may have lost but she’s put in one hell of an effort and nearly beat Honda at his own game.

Killer Queens (Emi Sakura & Mei Suruga) defeated Sayaka & Yuna Mizumori via La Magistral on Sayaka

Last but not least, the main event. The Killer Queens were back in action as Emi Sakura had come home to fight. After watching the show from America, she’d come back to her Queendom to bring the fight. With Suruga by her side, she looked to put the hurt on the Tropical Smiling Violence, Yuna Mizumori, and Sayaka. As expected, this main event kicked ass. It opened fairly traditionally with Sayaka and Suruga locking up then Sakura and Mizumori bringing out something stronger. Sakura’s back became a target again as Sayaka and Mizumori showed their coordination instantly. Sakura schooled them both and pretty soon it was the Killer Queen’s Show of torture. Sayaka withstood the punishment but wasn’t catching a break as Sakura just kept piling on the punishment. Mizumori got some vengeance for her team but again, Sakura just took control and put on another beating. All the action bled together and both teams started taking lumps out of each other. It was another match that doesn’t require an essay to cover but was filled to the brim with fun moments and manic teamwork.

The Killer Queens were as good as ever with Sakura not missing a step. The challengers were killing it too with Sayaka and Mizumori finding a great rhythm on this outing and leaving their mark on the match. It was super fun to watch and ended the show on a high. I’m not sure how long Sakura is sticking around but she always puts on a show. No matter how often Sakura and Suruga have fought, once Killer Queen mode is active, the pair become one hell of a super unit. They ended the show in style and kicked the season off with a bang. It was also funny to see Suruga aping Suzume throughout the match, preparing herself for their tag bout later in the month. Applebees is their name and they seem more than ready to fight. Maybe we’ll see them have a practice run in ChocoPro?
