Welcome back to ChocoPro and another double-bill of wrestling wonder from Ichigaya’s favourite wrestling company. It was going to be a bit more of a chilled-out session this time as we had four matches from some of the company favourites. For #241, Chie-DK did battle with each other as Masahiro Takanashi took on Chie Koishikawa and Best Bros battled Sayaka Obihiro and Yuna Mizumori. Then, after that, #242 would bring us another surprise Akki vs Shin Suzuki match and a monster collision between Tropical Comaneci, the pairing of Tokiko Kirihara and Yuna Mizumori, and The Warm Caterpillars. The action was going to be no less fierce as the ChocoPro wrestlers never give less than 100% so let’s see who won and lost this weekend.

ChocoPro #241

Masahiro Takanashi defeated Chie Koishikawa via Pin Trap

Starting off the weekend’s action was Too Much Energy Chie Koishikawa taking on her Chie-DK teammate Masahiro Takanashi in some singles action. It’s not the first time we’ve seen the pair spar and hopefully, we were going to see an even more improved Koishikawa taking the fight to Takanashi this time. I actually got to see that. Koishikawa spent most of this match trying to match Takanashi in a grappling contest. It started friendly enough with Takanashi even taking some moves from the Koishikawa playbook to very little success. As the match wore on though, things started getting more intense and Koishikawa started wrecking Takanashi’s legs with repeated Muffler attempts and leg-breakers. It was an excellent showing for the hyperactive one and another near-victory over an established veteran of the game. It took a lot of improvised tricks from Takanashi to keep Koishikawa down this time showing just how far she’s come and how deadly she’s getting. It was fun to spectate this chess match with Koishikawa impressing yet again despite taking an L. These matches are always interesting because both Takanashi and Koishikawa remain adaptable and able to put on any type of match they want. Here we saw the hyperactivity toned down so Koishikawa could try and out-grapple her teammate.

Best Bros (Baliyan Akki & Mei Suruga) defeated Sayaka Obihiro & Yuna Mizumori via Stomp n Splash combo on Obihiro

Ending the first episode was another Best Bros main event. Akki and Suruga were still going strong and were going to be facing the odd couple team of Sayaka Obihiro and the Tropical Pineapple Monster Yuna Mizumori. They had a deadly mix of power and striking that the Best Bros were going to have to navigate. They seemed to have it mostly down as some early teamwork from the pair was fought through and Obihiro was made the match’s punching bag. They were out in full force but Mizumori kept interrupting to make sure things didn’t end and to put the hurting on both bros. Mizumori continues to excel at just killing everyone and she was in top form again here, throwing in some entertaining moments alongside her sheer bludgeoning ability. Alas, none of that stopped Best Bros from regrouping and firing back, turning an already chaotic match into all-out anarchy. It made for an excellent main event fight with Best Bros remaining at the top of the contender mountain. Obihiro and Mizumori made a fun team to watch and both had plenty of time to shine against the company’s aces. I’ll never tire of watching Akki and Mizumori beat the hell out of each other. Best Bros remain unshakable at the moment, continuously toppling any competition that comes their way, except CDK… Also, at the end of this show, Akki announced that he is doing a two-month American tour starting July 11th. If you want him on your show, now’s the chance promoters.

ChocoPro #242

Baliyan Akki vs Shin Suzuki ends in UMA Invasion

Before today’s matches could even get underway, Ken Ohka invaded the ChocoPro studio. He was doing his usual ranting and raving so Mizumori stepped up to him and now, on July 9th, the pair are throwing down. Originally this was meant to be Akki vs Sayuri but the ChocoPro Ninja couldn’t attend so Shin Suzuki stepped in to give us another slice of action from ChocoPro’s hottest feud. Their title match had pushed them beyond their limits but now, we were going to have a new chapter following that blowout. No one was sure what to expect since these two could pull out anything at a moment’s notice. What they went for was another masterclass in countering as the pair drew on all their previous experience fighting. We had some of the old, some new, and a whole lot of competitive back-and-forth from two men who can’t have a bad match against each other. Just as this one was getting towards a closing sequence; the match was torn apart by a UMA invader. This time, Tiger Jeet Shinjuku was the one to fire the shot and wrecked everyone in and involved with the match. Looks like the Monster Army is taking more pot shots and Akki wants to smash their faces in so hard, that they’ll never wear those masks again. Don’t piss off the champ, when he gets back from America, he’s killing them.

Tokiko Kirihara & Yuna Mizumori defeated Warm Caterpillars (Mei Suruga & Chie Koishikawa) via Wall-run Splash on Koishikawa

Last but not least, the final match of the weekend. It was time for more tag action as Suruga and Koishikawa entered their cocoons to bring the Warm Caterpillars out to play. They weren’t having an easy night as they were going to have to tangle with the mighty Comanecis of Yuna Mizumori and Tokiko Kirihara. That was a wrestling minefield to cross, were the Caterpillars up to the challenge? Well, they gave it a damn good go but today was the day of the Tropical Comaneci. They managed to weather the early storm and started locking down the match and their opponents, with a little help from a butterfly net. It became something entirely more chaotic the longer it went on and both teams started going for broke. It was a wild watch and an excellent showcase for all four fighters with Kirihara being part of the winning team for once. I don’t want to write too much on this one because it’s one I’d rather implore you to watch instead. It’s free below and an excellent match to sink your teeth into. Both teams killed it and once again helped prove that no matter the combos, they have one hell of a tag division.
