Here is the case. Against All Odds was so damn great. But that’s not enough. There are plenty of empty pages to fill up in the history book. So, the case needs to continue…
On the menu this week, from Atlanta, GA, Speedball Mike Bailey will put the X-Division title on the line against a newcomer in the Impact Zone, Alan Angels. Trey Miguel will face off Laredo Kid. Deonna Purrazzo and Mia Yim will compete to determine who is the new #1 contender for the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship. PCO and Black Taurus will collide. So no more words, let’s get ready for some action, but your French Enygma Steph way, of course…

The Nygma’s Chart of the Week

Tom Hannifan and The Drama King Matthew Rewholdt were on commentary. On ‘BTI’, Gisele Shaw w/ The Influence defeated Alisha Edwards (BTI is now available only on Impact Wrestling YouTube and Facebook channels at 7.30 PM EST/12.30 AM GMT and on Impact Plus).

  • Mike Bailey retained the X-Division Championship by defeating the hometown boy Alan Angels.

  • After the match, Joe Doering and Deaner hit the ring and beat down Bailey and Angels, leaving the X-Division champion laying in the centre of the ring. Deaner grabbed a mic and called out Josh Alexander but instead Eric Young answered the call out, staring down Doering and Deaner before slowly making his way to the ring.

  • Eric Young asked Doering and Deaner what happened, he said he is the designer and this isn’t part of his design. Deaner said he thought they were doing what he’d want. When Eric couldn’t do it, they thought Doering could do it. Eric told Deaner that Doering was undefeated under his watch. He told Joe he was once one of the most feared men in pro wrestling, and now look at him. He thought they were better than the worthless fans who can’t see the truth just like everyone in the back is worthless. Maybe the only choice is that he purges them both. Deaner said Eric is 100% correct and he’s speaking truths that Deaner and Doering can see crystal clear. Deaner asked Eric to give them a chance to prove to him that they can make this right. Eric agreed but said it needs to be clear. They need to understand this world belongs to him before dropping the mic and walking off.

  • Backstage with Honor No More, Bennett said no matter how much hard work they put in, they get screwed over time and time again. He said Impact wrestling doesn’t want them. Bennett claimed they aren’t the problem, Impact Wrestling is. Kenny King added they didn’t want them here but they didn’t deserve them. Maria Kanellis said at Against All Odds, they suffered a setback, they can’t tolerate Setbacks or failure. Eddie Edwards told PCO he will have tough decisions to make, he asked how much he truly believes in their message. PCO attempted to speak but Eddie cut him off and told him he wants to see his answer tonight in the ring against Black Taurus. Eddie said a failure is no longer an option.

  • Backstage, Deonna Purrazzo, with Chelsea Green, told Gia Miller that Mia Yim wanted to get some exposure and she’s going to learn her lesson when she meets the Virtuosa. Chelsea told her that when she gets the Virtuosa, she’ll also get Chelsea Green. As they walked off, Gail Kim walked up and told Chelsea she will face Mickie James next week and everyone is banned from ringside. Chelsea and Deonna were livid at this announcement.

  • Trey Miguel defeated Laredo Kid.

  • The Ric Flair Moment of the Week (see below).

  • Killer Kelly is coming to Impact Wrestling soon.

  • Backstage, Deaner and Doering were looking for Josh Alexander. Eventually, they crossed paths with him, Sabin and Shelley, and brawled for a bit before security separated them and Josh yelled that this isn’t over.

  • Backstage, America’s Most Wanted were with Gia Miller. They talked about how happy they are about the match they had at Against All Odds, Chris Harris said he got everything out that he needed to but you can never say never. James Storm said you never know where he’s going to show up but for now, he has some unfinished business.

  • We followed James Storm as he walked backstage and walked into Moose’s locker room and found Maclin there. He asked where Moose is at, Maclin told Storm that he thought his match at Against All Odds was his retirement match. Storm said he’s in his prime and next week Maclin can come to bark up a bigger tree if he wants some real competition.

  • PCO w/ Vincent defeated Black Taurus.

  • After the match, Crazzy Steve hit the ring to protect Taurus. Before Honor No More could attack Taurus and Steve, Heath caught them from behind, taking out Kenny King before heading out through the crowd.

  • Backstage with Bullet Club, Ace Austin, Chris Bey and The Good Brothers discussed their issues with Honor No More with Gia Miller. Ace and Bey discussed how they’re ready for some of that action. Bey said next week we can do Bullet Club vs. Honor No More but he’ll let Chef Gallows tell us the recipe. Gallows said it’s the same as always, a Magic Killer, a one-two-three, and a just Too Sweet.

  • Brian Myers was walking around backstage and forced an autograph upon a Swinger fan. Brian made fun of Swinger and Zicky Dice. Bhupinder Gujjar walked up to Brian and asked for a match, Brian said everyone can have a match so how about they wrestle next week and then they can figure it out from there. Swinger offered Bhupinder a discount at the dungeon but he said no.

  • Rich Swann defeated Mahabali Shera.

  • Backstage, The Influence walked up on Gisele Shaw and asked her what the deal with the image from Masha was all about. Shaw explained it but said at least Tenille looks great. They ran down Shaw’s mistakes and wondered if she can even help them. They said they’ll take care of it themselves but Madison said she still can’t because of doctors’ orders. Tenille stormed off.

  • Backstage, Rosemary was mad that Havok didn’t make the save for them when they needed it. She told Taya they’re done dealing with James Mitchell and she’s going to the Undead Realm. Taya said she was going with her. Rosemary told her she can’t go because people die in the Undead Realm, if they are lucky. Taya said she knows it’s dangerous but she’s not letting her go alone. Rosemary said it’s not safe but Taya insisted.

  • Mia Yim defeated Deonna Purrazzo to become the #1 contender for the IMPACT Knockouts World Championship. After the match, Jordynne Grace came out and clapped for Mia offering a handshake. They stared each other down.

The Nygma’s Nutcracker(s) of the Week

– Trey Miguel vs Laredo Kid

Both men started off with quick action, ducking and dodging before resetting a bit. Trey sent Laredo to the outside and went for a dive but Laredo Kid moved Trey with a kick. Laredo caught him and countered, following with a strike to the chin. Laredo Kid on the outside, Trey attempted a moonsault but he’s favouring his leg, he attempted it again and it connected clean.

Both men recovered on the outside. Laredo Kid attacked Miguel’s injured leg as we came back from break. Laredo Kid connected with the one-leg crab before Trey got to the rope, forcing a break. Laredo Kid hit a slap to Miguel’s face, then a knee to the chest. Trey went to the middle rope but Laredo Kid pulled his leg out from underneath him, slamming his head onto the turnbuckle in the process. Laredo Kid locked Trey in a modified Figure-Four but Trey got to the ropes, forcing a break. Trey and Laredo went up top, Trey sent Laredo off the top with a forearm, then followed with a missile dropkick.

Trey connected with a one-legged kip-up before laying Laredo with a series of strikes, followed by a one-legged stomp to the back. Trey hit an inside-out slam and covered Laredo Kid for a two-count. Trey headed to the top but again slipped because of the injured knee. Laredo Kid lifted him up for a Michinoku Driver and covered for two. Trey replied with a roll-up for two. Laredo Kid laid into Trey with a number of strikes before lifting him up on his shoulders. Trey continued with a Cross Rhodes and covered Laredo Kid for the victory.

The Weekly “Enigma For a Nygma”

Since his comeback to the Impact Zone, I feel like Laredo Kid has been losing match after match after match… Am I wrong? Because that’s a shame, knowing and seeing how talented he is.

The Nygma’s Noticeable Facts/Awards of the Week

– Violent by Design is not over…

If you think Eric Young is really about to make the Titanic sink, I can tell you a little bird told me it was far, but very far, from over. And I believe this little bird…

– 3K on the road

Killer Kelly and KUSHIDA are coming to the Impact Zone… Killer Kelly should have signed way before but COVID and some injuries prevented her. She was born in Portugal and wrestled in Germany, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Nederlands, France, Hungary and Japan before gracing the US rings. The matches she did by the end of 2020 impressed the Management.
When it comes to KUSHIDA, I won’t tell you what this man is about because we all know it and we have all seen it. What I didn’t know is he wrestled for Border City Wrestling around 2009 and was coached by Scott D’Amore. As he is back to NJPW, I don’t know how long KUSHIDA will be in the IMPACT Zone, let’s enjoy…

Ric Flair’s Last Match

On July 31, around Ric Flair’s last bout, Impact Wrestling will be there. Some matches are definitely show-stealers…

To be eNYGMAtic…

It doesn’t happen pretty often, and it’s not a sign of laziness from me, but this week I just want you to watch. I could use all the words to say how excellent this episode is. But that would mean anything if you don’t watch it.
Against All Odds is now behind us, some of you may have understood that to follow up “Lovely Ludwig Van,” I needed a “Roll Over Beethoven” to close that chapter… The next Special Event, Emergence, will take place on August 12 (another Friday… cringe), so in 5 weeks.
Next week, IMPACT is airing on July 14, Bastille Day… I offered you to be “Frenglish” for a day and trust me when I say I’ll do my best to make you learn the worst of my beautiful language.
On this “Nygma, Against All Odds” note, until next week (if I want), take care, stay safe, watch wrestling, and never EVER forget to stay #eNYGMAtic…
